Building a wooden res?

Hey folks, so I'm planning on running a large res on my next run. My issue is most conventional totes won't fit in my space. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience framing a wooden box and lining it with plastic?

I was thinking of framing the box and lining it with vapour barrier or something similar for ponds. I'm thinking around the 70gal range.

Would this work or am I looking at a recipe for disaster?

The only problem with spray on products is the potential of chemical contamination.
I built one a few years back, 50 gallon, out of 2x4's and pond liner. Worked great, a little hard to clean, I would recommend a bulkhead fitting at the bottom to allow for draining. When you have to clean the unit you can wash and then spray the sides to get any residue and let it drain from the bottom. It's hard to clean without the drain. JMHO!

Epoxy Coated plywood would work. Boat building type stuff. Probably around $80 a gallon though.Heavy mil green house plastic would also work. Having a bulkhead going threw would be tricky.

Should work much better than the bucket system. Now to just take care of my nutrient issue. I wouldn't recommend AN to anyone. Luckily I had a friend with some spare DNF on them. First run with DWC so it's a learning curve.

What's the deal with the bottom? Can you explain that blue piece (insulation?) at the bottom, is it just 1/2" osb screwed into 2x6" lumber sides?
Thanks.

It's just a piece of 1" insulation with OSB under it. I screwed a 2x10 frame together then tacked down the insulation and screwed the OSB to the frame. Holds approximately 100 liters.

Cool. Good job, man.
What mil/thickness is the plastic/vapor barrier you used?

Thanks dude. I wanted to do a better job putting in the barrier but it serves the purpose.

It's 6 millimeters. For added assurance I put in 3 layers.

I made lots of these for flood and drain. Largest ones would hold two 4x8 trays. Pond liner rules.

Thats 6 millls, meaning I think, its 6 thousands of an inch thick.

The osb lid isnt going to last even with plastic on it,some good paint would work/help it last.

Was in a rush to get this one going so I didn't have time to paint it unfortunately. The next lid I make I'll probably paint and put vapour barrier on it. This one should last a while as is.

You could maybe use rigid foam insulation or something.

The pond liner I used to run was 45 mil.
Yea, been avoiding using it for some reason. The installation maybe ("perfectionist"). Even the 25 mil, cheap pond liner would do pretty well I'd think. You made tables or reservoirs? I'd want to make a 20-30Gal reservoir.

Ok, thanks. Good thinking on adding a few layers.

Firestone 45 mil pond liner. My reservoirs that I sat two 4x8 trays on were 300 gallons.
