Hey whats up RiU. My idea is to take your ideas and make an aircool tube for my 430w HPS. I have a basic concept of an Aircool Tube and how it works. My cabnit is 2dx3w.7h temps with doors open are 85. I really need to get this aircool tube going.

Main Parts
-I know you need the Piece of round glass.
-Fans for intake / exhaust.
-Air ducting..

What would be the best way to support the glass so it wouldnt hit the glass when hanging?

I have seen someone build a aircool tube for themself and did a damn good job, but i cant find the thread..

Also. I have a 430w ballast for my HPS. Is it possible to use a 300W HPS bulb on it? or can I only use 430W Bulbs? (still new to hps).

Thanks for checking it out, Feel free to leave and Ideas, Comments, Questions.

I just added a diy cool tube to my setup. My setup is in an area of 19inX31inX5ft tall. And with the cool tube on my 250w HPS light the temps in my room run around 74degrees. The cool tube will take out some heat but the infrared heat is still there. But i also have an exhaust fan in the top of the room and it is vented outside the house and it is run threw 4in dryer duct hose. The cool tubes are nice but they are not the real answer to lowering the heat in the room. But with the 430w HPS light that you have it might make a bigger difference in your room. Post a pic of your cool tube setup when you are done making it. Good luck

Thanks Buster, Do you have a pic of the one you made? or a discription how you made it? My idea is pretty similar to the one the guy made with the link I had.

My plan so far is;
4-5inch 1ft Pyrex glass tube.
4-5inch ducting
4-5inch comp fans (x2), one for intake / exhaust
Heat resistant tape / Silicone / Spacers / screws

looks around 40$ to build. Wish I could get my hands on the tube, but it seems thats gonna be the hardest part to get.

Here is how i have mine setup. If you have a walmart close to you, you can get the tube there. I did. Just go to the candle section and you will see all kinds of candle holders with a glass tube around them for like 12$. mine is like 5X10. It is perfect for my 250w hps. I don't know how big your bulb is because i never seen a 400w hps bulb.

Sweet, the candle looks like a good idea. I just went to Walmart website and located a 14inch x 5inch candle holder glass tube that would be perfect size for my 430W HPS bulb. Ill build it tonight and post pics for everyone.. Thanks again for the info about the candle holders.

Wouldn't you lose lumens from the light going threw the water. I would have to say yes. And you can get rid of alot of heat with just a regular cool tube. I don't know about any hps light other than the 250w hps that i use, and with my cool tube on it i am able to lower my light to within 6inches from the tops of my plants with no harm. But for the ones that use the bigger lights the water cooled cool tube would probably work better but it still seems that the water would take some of the lumens. But i may be wrong.
