Building First Stealthy Grow Box, Need Help

I've just recently gotten into the idea of setting up a grow box to see if I can grow a plant or two. I have an idea of what I'm going to do, I just need some input or advice. I'll give some background as to my plans, materials, and whatever else.

  1. For the box itself - I'm probably going to use a rubbermaid tote; usually everyone has a few in their attic or basement or just around in general. Not exactly sure how big it'll be. Also, I'll be lining it with Mylar from emergency blankets.
  2. My lights are going to be 23 watt (100 watt equivalent) CFLs. Home Depot has exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be using 6 5000k daylight bulbs for the veg and then 8 2700k soft white bulbs for flowering.
  3. The plants growing will be from some bag seed that I've had for awhile. I want two grow two inside my grow box with the amount of lights I have. I'll start about 7 of them, put two in the box, and move the rest somewhere else.

What I do want to ask is how to hide the scent of my box (living with parents still, moving out by the end of this year though). Also, is there anything I'm missing?

Number one, in general, it's better to have a tall container rather than a wide one. Rubbermaids tend to be fat, you can cut out the bottom and stack them to make them taller or just go with some other type of structure. Think of how you're going to mount your lights, you want to be able to raise/lower them with your plants; lower power bulbs need to be a lot closer. Thermal blanket is going to trap the heat, you may be better off with something thinner like plain mylar or panda plastic or maybe even white paint. Next, and possibly most importantly, you need a scrubber and a fan. This is what will eliminate smell and keep your grow cool. There are plenty of guides around for how to use activated carbon between two perforated media to create a filter and ideally you would want some kind of real fan to pump through it.

Also nutes and ph are important, fyi.

As far as a stealthy grow in a small box living with your parents, good luck. You need something in a hard to get to spot, not a closet. Do you have a crawl space under your house? You get benefit from the cooling effect in a space like that. Attics work too, but hard to keep cool.

Also, they make large cardboard boxes for moving wardrobes... Even come with a hangar for your light. Check with your local u haul or moving supply place. You can easily poke holes in the box for vents, and it can be camouflaged.

I've just recently gotten into the idea of trying to piss my parents off... I'm a teenager that wants to grow weed under my parents noses, but I don't know how. Can anyone help?
Here's what you do,
go to your pops, say "hey old man, FUCK YOU! I don't give a shit about your rules, or your freedom. I'm a punk ass kid that knows everything and I want some FUCKING WEED!" at this point, he'll do one of two things:
1. Go and get you some weed, or help you grow it
or
2. Knock your retarded kid brain down a peg or two with a foot up your ass or a hand upside your head

Don't piss your parents off trying to light a fire in some Rubbermaid totes, its not worth the unsmokable 1/8 that you'll yield. Wait a year and get your own place, then grow all the weed you want...

fuckin kids these days:wall:....

What frozen chosen said. I was just trying to be helpful without my parenting side coming into play. Fortunately, my kids never had to hide a grow box from me since mine was already in the best spot.
