Building stealth box - LED question

Hope I put this in the right place. Going to do autos in 28" tall dorm fridge. Have fans installed and a carbon filter over the exhaust fan exhaust. I was going to put 20" flouro light fixture on each side vertically and a CFL on top. But thinking of LED instead. I've read alot and the general consensus is that "cheap ebay" LEDs are a waste of money for a larger grow. But for such a small area would those 12 x 12 red/blue cheapos be sufficient? Any advice appreciated, thanks

Those small cheap ebay LEDs wont grow much. I tried the "14 watt" ones, and the "45 watt" ones. They are actually 9 watts and 27 watts respectively. Even in large numbers you wont get much. CFLs will give you better results than those, and they are pretty cheap.

For LED, with a height of just 28", I do not have any particular one to recommend. With the height restrictions, I'd look into wider angle lenses, like 120-140 degree, because that way you can put the light much closer without bleaching the leaves.

If I were in your situation, I'd look into either a 90x1w UFO or a 45x3w UFO, actual wattage draw for either is 70ish, and I'd look for a light with a decent spectrum, plus I'd look for 120 degree lenses, that way you can be like 4" away from the tops and not bleach the leaves and also giving you room for your plant.

If you had a bigger area with more height to work with, I would not recommend any UFO LEDs, but rather something a little larger.

I use the ProGrow 260 and it works great and not very hot at all. Might be too much for your space but they make two smaller ones.

....blackstars seem to be fine in small spaces...i have 2 240 models...they veg awsome but as with most they seem to lack in bud production, i sub mine with 150 hps and it does much better...if i were u and fairly new to growing ..try the bs 240 and sub it with some cfl....thats what many small grows do with livable results...imho
