Hey all, planning to buy new bulbs for my 2 600w sets, was wondering if theres a general brand preference... or any brands to just stay away from. (poor quality, lifespan, color, etc.) Both are digital 600w ballasts running HPS.

From personal experience I can say do not waste your money on Apollo bulbs. I have an Apollo in my veg room. The ballast is fine for veg but the bulbs ain't worth shit. If your on a low budget I-power is ok but if money is not an issue I would use hortilux.

It's either Hortilux or Ushio for me. Buy quality products and you'll get your moneys worth.

Genesis supposedly tests all the lightbulbs and makes their own bulbs. Taken from Amazon description:
Genesis High Pressure Sodium Bulbs are designed and engineered for horticulture use with Digital Ballast to deliver 27% more energy in the blue and red enhanced ARC spectrum. We do this to maximize the PAR light spectrum plants utilize for growth. Genesis High Pressure Sodium Bulbs are designed for less lumen/PAR depreciation over standard bulbs and can be used with Digital or magnetic ballasts and can be mounted in vertical and horizontal lighting fixtures. Genesis=Quality Caution: Turn Power off before bulb inspection, installation or removal. Protect bulb from direct contact with liquids to avoid breakage from thermal shock. Keep combustible items away from bulb during operation. Operate bulb in a fixture with an identical ANSI lamp cord and ANSI mogul socket. Do not exceed that ballast stated wattage. Do not use bulb if glass looks scratched or broken. Do not use bulb beyond rated life span. Ensure bulb is fully installed prior to ignition. Allow bulb to cool prior to handling. Contains sodium avoid contact with skin if bulb is broken. Do not use excessive force when screwing in bulb. Wear safety glasses and gloves when installing lamp. Sodium bulbs are recommended to be replaced every 1-1.5 years (ran for a minimum of 12 hours a day).
