Burning In Hell

I don't understand the logic behind burning in hell does God want to punish us so bad that he would give us an earthly body that couldn't be destroyed just so we can burn and feel pain forever. Plus how could we feel pain from burning in hell if we don't have nerve endings and stuff. How can you burn a soul that can feel no pain or be destroyed.

I think the idea preached regarding hell nowadays is that when you die, you judge yourself. After peering upon the almightness that is God people consider themselves unworthy and as such cannot allow themselves to go to God, and being without the splendour of said God, is supposed to be hell.

At least thats what the modernist Catholics preach now.

(Disclaimer: I dont believe it btw, sounds like modern day trying rationalise a stupid concept put in a book by primative man)

If God really does do this to peoples souls then how can we be sure that God isn't evil
Thats what Im saying, back "then" when God was made out to be all fire and brimstone the concept of hell was a place of fire and eternal damnation.

But nowadays the modern concept accepted by the Church is the person feels unable to peer upon God because they are unworthy, and living without God after seeing the glory of God is in itself hell.

Only fundamentalist or crazy branches of Christianity still use the fire and pineapples up the arse punishment style hell.

The whole burning in hell thing is crazy, but an effective means to gain control of the mind of a would be follower mostly if that person is naive and foolish enough to believe in this concept of divine punishment.

I feel that some rulers actually knew more about the Gods then they like the populace and abuse his knowledge so he can in fact dominate the people he rules.

If God sends people to Satan to be punished... wouldn't that make Satan the good guy?

Just sayin

I got in a conflict with another RIU member who said everything I say about religion I say it like it's fact, so what I'm about to say is completely hypothetical, sorry to unleash that on you :).

Alright so if you guys are talking about the Christian religion then in their beliefs god doesn't send you to hell, nope he just rejects you from heaven. And apparently there's only two worlds to go, heaven or hell.

God made all of creation, including Heaven and Hell. If he rejects us from heaven, and obviously knows there's only one other option for an afterlife, isn't he directly sending us to hell? I mean, he could have created a third option (like Vegas) as an afterlife choice...

Lol, Vegas... that would be cool if denied access to heaven.

He created hell for the devil and his army. God wants you to be with him, but he can't let satans army (sinners) into heaven. Christians (not all, but I'm pretty sure a large majority of Christians) don't believe god sends you to hell, they believe by sinning you are buying your own ticket to hell.

Just a FYI (but non dickish), I don't follow their view of "hell". I'm just talking for there side, but let's continue this debate so I can hear you out, :).
