I figured I'd go ahead and start my journal. I'm just now germinating the seeds, but I still want to document every step, so here goes :P

Equipment:

600w Dimmable Quantum Ballast
600w C.A.P. Maxlume MH/HPS bulbs
6" Cool Tube w/ Reflector
6" Air King Fan
3 Half-Gallon Wine Jars (producing CO2)
FoxFarm Soil Trio Nutrients
Superthrive
Grandma's Unsulphered Molasses
FoxFarm Light Warrior Soil (Seedlings) and 20% more perlite
FoxFarm Ocean Forest Soil w/ dolomite lime and 25% more perlite
Moisture Meter
pH Kit
Thermometer/Hygrometer
3-gallon Grow Bags
Green Light (for nighttime examinations)

Germinating seeds (temp with the light on is 91 degrees, temp with the light off is around 72 degrees):

Equipment Cabinet:

I will have 4 plants growing. I'm germinating 3 King's Kush, 2 White Rhino, and 1 Spicy White Devil (AK47/NL). I'll keep the 4 best, they're all feminized.

I'll update with pictures every step, stay tuned for my first grow :D

Here's an update. Just planted the germinated seeds, all of them had a tail except the Spicy White Devil, but I'm sure it'll come through :P I also made the wine jars and have those sitting up there, even if it isn't much co2, it's still alcohol :D Ther flavors are Fruit Punch, Grape, and Pina Colada <3

Plants:

Wine:

Will definitely keep this journal as updated as possible. Feel free to comment/criticize my method.

Mine actually runs very nicely. Most I've ran it at is 50% and only for like 12 hours tops at a time so far, so I guess that's not really a good judgment, but it's doing good.

im struggling what strain to plant in such small space - 60x60x160 - what is it that you are growing? and how many plants can you fit in that space?

I'm not quit sure, it really depends on the container you use. If I were you I'd grow an indica, and LST it. Everything I'm doing is in the first post. 2 King's Kush, 2 White Rhino, and 1 Spicy White Devil.

btw...next time, you don't really need to run the light while they're germinating :) it just runs your electric bill up. and also, be really careful about putting seedlings under HID lights so i've been told. i think most people put them under fluorescents for a week or two beginning... good luck man

All I have is HID. They'll pop without light? The thing is, without my light on it's 70 degrees, but with it on it gets to like 82, so I was using it for the heat.

First grow is always a (major) learning experience.. but just a heads up..you might as well toss that feeding schedule in the trash.

Yeah I'm not completely following it, just usign it as a guide sort of. I'm not going to feed until 3-4 weeks in, and I'm going to start at a reduced dosage.

Hey man,

As you've seen, I'm just wrapping my first grow up and gonna get started with a full journal for the next time, so it'll be interesting to follow your first time out.

A few thoughts so far:

-be careful with that 600w on the seedlings. I found that my 600 was stressing some well-rooted ~6" tall clones after they'd presumably been under fluorescent for a good while. I resolved it by pulling my lights up to the ceiling, then lowering a couple inches each day for like 7-10 until they were within 10-12" of the canopy.
I'd recommend starting those joints out right on the floor so they can get that warmth you mentioned plus a bit of PAR (they absolutely NEED *SOME* light), but not enough to stress them at a time when they are too fragile to recover. Then again, you have a dimmable ballast, so you've already taken some of the harshness away just by running at 50%, so I'll be curious to see how it goes either way.

-the Fox Farm feeding schedule isn't TOTAL crap, and it's probably a ton better than just leaving you to read the individual labels or just making something up. The main problem I see with the schedule is not enough N in the transition period through flower, so I started reducing the amount of solubles for each feeding while adding some Grow Big to get the ratio closer to 2-3-1.
Then again, it depends from plant to plant. I found Blue Dream to need almost no adjustments and stay green up until I started flushing, while my Skywalker OG seemed to want to yellow a bit more. Over the past few weeks I was feeding my Smart Pots every day with half-strength nutes, something to the tune of: 1~1.5tsp Bigbloom, 1tsp Growbig, 1tsp Tigerbloom, 1/8tsp Chaching and 1/8tsp ProTekt to help with the temperatures (also using a bit of Calmag, but you have that down with the lime)

Thanks for the help man. I had the 600w on 50% so it's basically at 300w, I'll raise it up a bit and see where I should go from there. They're starting to pop though :)
