Grow Medium & Nutes

I am growing in a mix of Canna Coco Choir and Playgron Coco Choir, not for any particular reason that was just what I could get my hands on. This is mixed about 70/30 with perlite.

I usually buy fresh coco and perlite for each grow but this time I will be recycling. On top of this I will not be "washing" the coco but I am going to up the amount of cannazym in the final week of feed ing and just plant straight into the same pots. I will of course take out the root balls and mix up the coco but I'm looking to really lower the workload on this grow.

With regards nutes I'm following Cannas own grow schedule at www.growguide.info set to Coco, hard water & heavy feeding. I use the minimum Boost per feed and I add half dosage of PK 2 weeks prior and after the time stated on the chart otherwise I follow it to a tee.

Schedule

I will be veging these plants for another 4 weeks maximum (waiting on existing crop) I will be hoping to be ready in 2/3.

I had a massive issue with my c99 stretching with my existing crop along with some very cold spells leading to a very poor looking crop. I don't want this crop to be anymore than 12-14 inches in height before I flip.

Pictures to follow. I'll try and update twice a week from here on in. 'd be delighted to hear from anyone who has experience with these strains or a similar set up

Holy Grail Kush
week 8/9 (from cutting)
Topped twice
Potted up to 1.5L pots and trained tonight
Feed: 15ml Canna Coco A+B, 15ml Canna Rhizotonic, 10ml Canna Cannazym

I have 19 cuttings of HGK and 18 of C99. The C99 is extremely stretchy and the bud in the plants that these seeds came from is very airy so I'm gonna toss the C99. However 2 of the HGK were very small and weedy so I'm gonna take the 2 best c99 cuts and grow them out.

That leaves 17 HGK, 2 C99, 2 BigBud & 3 Cream 47 as the final 24 plants going forward. I will keep the auto seperate.

The HGK & C99 cuttings in slightly cramped accommodation before potting up, the HGK is the closer tray. All looking quite green and healthy though.

Close up of a HGK potted up before being trained. A bit stretched probably due to too many plants in the tray.

Post training

Looking all nice and uniform in their temporary home for the next 2 weeks or so.

Just thought I'd post a pic of my work station.

I used an IKEA system called antonius which has now been replaced by this.

Its great because I like to work standing up and this system really allows you to customise you work space. You can easily add shelves, racks, drawers, bins etc. When I'm potting up I fill the 50L bin with coco mix and just fill the pots in there it really keeps down the mess! When I'm cutting I use the 50L bins for trim and then another for bud really saves your back if you dont like to cut sitting down all the time.

Of course it also gives me plenty of storage space for my bits and bobs and really helps me keep the farm organised. Also it is DIRT cheap!

My little training kit, duct tape is a must for me when training any other tpe of tape just comes undone in a few days

IMG_0515.jpg

I use autopots for flower but I like the idea of feeding from below and not force feeding my plants. I have not had any over feeding/ mineral issues with this system and I always feed on a heavy schedule. Below is a pic of some extra holes I put in my 1.5L pots to allow easy uptake of nutes/water.

Okay so not updated in a week or 2 due to harvesting and work commitments.

Just about to pot up to the final 15L Autopots.

Normally I dump the Coco/ Perlite mix from the last grow and just mix up a fresh batch.

However this grow I am simply removing the main root ball and as much plant matter as possible without being anal ad planting directly into the pre-used coco.

Now I may fluch the pots once or twice and I was thinking of using a high concentration of Canazym in the first couple of feeds.

Any thoughts?

Start With trimed stalk...

I cut the most of the stalk off

Then I pull out the root ball and remove as much substrate as possible

I take out as much of the larger roots as possible

There are still a lot of the smaller web roots in the coco, do you guys think this will be an issue?

Indeed there is, not all good I'm afraid.

So I was out of the country for a week and had set everything up with the autopots & lights to work while I was one with no issues. And it did all work fine, happy days.

But what I forgot was that I had 5 new strains from seed in one of the tents....

you guessed it.. I got a male.

One solitary male Big Bud had gone and reached pull maturity int he week i was gone and has pollinated one whole tent. I cleared him out the minute I got home and doused the tent with water to try and stop the pollen but the sacs had already opened, I feared the worst. A week later (last night) i checked al my girls in the tent and every one of them has seeds now.

I don't know what to do, I don't want the seeds (They would be Cream 47 x BB, C99 X BB & Holy Grail Kush x BB) what are my options here, I'm about 3/4 weeks into flower.

Do I pick the seeds off now, will this help promote better weed/harvest?

Do I leave them alone until harvest?

Do I harvest at all, should i just mow them down?

I need to buy a lot of new gear and this cycle was to pay for that, money is a REAL issue right now so I need choose the most economic option.

I have a 2nd tent which I didn't look at last night (I can't take anymore bad news!) I'm hoping that no pollen transfered on my clothes or something, but fuck knows with that stuff.

DISASTER!!!!!
