im having problems with my plant, i think its not uptaking cal or mag due to too high of Ph

can someone please do an experiment with their Ph meter for me? can you please tell me how one and then 2tbs of epsom salt to one gallon of water would effect the PH?

i would rep you a hundred times if someone would do this for me; im way too broke to be buying a ph meter, and im not growing indoors much longer

i dont have much time with this plant so the faster you could help me the better

I haven't used epsom in quite a long time, but I still remember that it lowers your PH when you mix it. I never mixed it any stronger than 1 tbs per gallon, so I'm guessing that 2 tbs would lower it at least one full point, probably a little more. Either way, there's no way anyone will be able to tell you how to adjust it, accurately, because we don't know what the starting PH of the water is, and we don't know what you are planning to use as PH-adjusters. Even then, I wouldn't feel real comfortable with it, unless it was the same exact brand of PH-Up that I use. The safest thing i can recommend ATM, is to add 1 tbs of dolomite lime to each gallon of water, while you are in the process of buying a cheap digital PH meter off Ebay, for example(they're about $30, and a VERY good idea to buy one). Also, the lime contains calcium and magnesium, so will help that problem too, while keeping your PH in check.

I dont have any salt or i would help you out.

Wallmart water dispensers"the ones you can fill your 5 gallon jugs in" usually have between 5.5 and 7 ph, I have used it several times when i had no way to ph for hydro and soil with no ill effects. Just a suggestion for a temporary safety net.

I have plenty of epsom salt. I will do this experiment for you tonight when my lights turn on. They come on in about 30 mins. I have some work to do in the garden before I can get to it. But, once I'm done with normal gardening chores, I'll do the test for you and post the results. Shouldn't be more than a few hours...

^That's what the lime is for. It'll raise your PH, then do a good job of holding it at an acceptable range. Most quality soils come with it already added, or a similar additive(there's a few different things that work, like crushed seashells, etc...). :)

Hello. My tap water has a pH of 7.25. As you requested, I added 1 tablespoon of Epsom Salt to 1 gallon of water. The pH dropped from 7.25 down to 7.15. I hope this helps.

well i appreciate it; but epsom salt will not help with the Ph problems. it only drops ph by the slightest amount, so what ill try and do is find a water with high Ph and get epsom salt

i think this one is doomed, so im gonna give it a lil time, but i have 2 seeds goin that ill put outside with good soil once they have good leafs
and hope for better
