Since marijuana will be on the ballot in 2012, what's your projection on the legislation? Pass or fail?

It's a tough situation for me, I don't want to invest in 20k of land for it to be legalized.

Been trying since '72 so it won't happen in 2012.
All the BIG corps/Feds will make sure of that! Watch and see....

It could pass but the feds would crackdown under pressure from conservative states. If you can grow unabided here and other states continue prohibition it would just mean a lot more of what is grown here is exported to prohibited areas.

Also the feds could get local officials to keep on policing it under federal law under the threat of cutting funding.(something they haven't done with medical marijuana but might do with a recreational market)

I think you're safe to do so. sure it COULD make the ballot and get passed but thats when the feds will step in & shut it down. Im not sure they have the right to automatically "reverse" it so to speak but i don't think that'll matter. They can still say (and legally have the right to do so) they will track down & prosecute growers/buyers/distributors/etc.

It would really be no different than it is now for med patients. sure you have a dr's rec and can legally (state law) go to a club, buy some bud...or donate some bud ,etc. no problem...however the feds still bust those in the mj industry and prosecute them under federal law. it would be the same way if it passed in california except instead of just hunting down med patients they would be able to bust many more people.

If it passes in california (not likely) it'll just make the feds job that much easier and im more than sure 80% of all new growers (after it passes or if it does) wont hide their grows or be as stealth as the folks who've been at this for years under the protection of dr's rec or otherwise.

Folks in cali are very secretive about their grows even if they DO have a drs rec as they know the feds can still bust them.

So even if it passes it wont REALLY mean anything when you get right down to it.

My thoughts are it wont pass. Seems like marijuana activists start strong leading up to an election but as it gets closer to election day their momentum falls flat & it doesnt pass.

part of this is because people realize passing it wont be anything other than a personal victory but its not REALLY changing anything. Especially with the way some of these props are written...see prop 19. that was a joke. it didnt legalize anything...it just basically was a ballot measure designed to make the rich richer by giving the greenlight for legit commercial grow ops. It didnt do much for the avg joe except what? allow you to hold an oz? and grow in a 5x5 space.

it had so many restrictions and the wording was very slippery...i voted no because i thought prop 215 gave better options to the people of california versus prop 19.

if the ballot measure looks anything like prop 19 its gonna fail.

i say if they are gonna legalize then you should be able to posses, grow, smoke, sell as much as you want. thats how you get rid of the crime associated with it. if the plant is literally as legal as tobacco is then there wouldnt be a problem. whens the last time you saw someone shoot someone over a pack of cigs? or whens the last time you saw gangs pitching packs of cigs on the corner?

exactly.

at worst you'd be faced with out of state mj trafficking since it would become so cheap and easy to find in cali that people would come from out of state and export it to their state and rack up the profits...

so imo legalization will only work if it happens on the federal level. if you legalize it state by state there will be TONS of crime and trafficking and it'll give mj a terrible rep and everyone will say how it was so stupid to legal mj in whatever state since all it did was attract crime. etc.

i say federal legalization or its gonna fail.

Thanks for your input, that was alot of great I formation. I will
Go ahead and pull the trigger on purchasing the land. It's up north east
Of mendo country. For whoever asked, it's about 50 acres on unchartered land
In fertile mountain soil :) lots of patients under my name!

Medical marujuana passed in Arizona in 1996 and 2010. Still no dispenserie permits issued. Even if it does pass, Democrats & Republicans will make sure it never goes on sale. These are 2 failed political parties, that do business at the end of a gun barrel. The will of the people at the polls is no concern of theirs. peace
