Here is the Normal website http://www.canorml.org/faq.html this should have all of the information you need.anyone know the specifics on what the laws are for a medical marijuana patient....
ex. amount of plants at once, amount of weed ect...

So it depends on where you live, what county, but you will be safe if you stay within state guidelines.
Just grow very large plants

I live in a county where you can grow six mature or 12 immature plants and 8 ounces of processed marijuana. I want to put my 215 together with one other person and grow 9 mature plants. I'm growing outside. 1 white widow max, 1 purp<-- super yielder rare strain , 2 blue dream X, 2 blue dream tangerine, and 3 blue dream x-haze. These are all big plants with high yields. What if I yield 15 lbs?? I want to sell it to the dispensaries. Can i do this and stay within the law.... You say just grow large plants???? California Supreme Court stuck down limits a few months ago. Check it out.
You probably need to do more research, if you want to sell to dispensaries I would retain a lawyer who deals in these matters to help make decisions.
As long as you don't sell it you should be able to grow what you need.
