Camouflage for Cannabis

Ah yes, Ricinus communis. One of my favorite summer blooming things.
Large hand shaped , reddish, gorgeous tropical looking leaves. From which
Is derived Castor oil and Ricin which some may have heard of.
I'll have To buy some seeds.
Yes, I've never grown it before, but some research into large and fast growing plants showed me the way, just be careful what happens to the seeds as they are severely poisonous (that ricin business you hinted at).
As for the flowers to distract from the cannabis, I'm germinating some Vitex (Chaste Tree), some Black-Eyed Susans and sunflowers. My plan is to inundate the area with different leaf patterns and colors so that people don't necessarily focus on individual plants. It will be my first outdoor grow, and I will try to post some pics at some point.

Any other suggestions for the garden?

I think there are tall Artemesias that might hide Cannabis. I liked the Black Eyed Susan idea too.
I really like Vitex. So MJ like and those spikes of purplish flowers late in the season for us here.
Some good stuff. Thanks all.

this got me thinking about the old myth(actually not a complete myth)
and that is where you can graft MJ and hops
it's not a myth that you can graft them, the myth was you could graft hops vine to cannabis root and get THC laden hops
you get plain old hops, at least using MJ roots
but apparently it is possible to graft MJ tops onto a hops base(with difficulty)
so picture a hops vine with some number of MJ 'subsections', that would look pretty different
i'd think noticing MJ in such a beast to be very unlikely

Yeah, I remember reading that, years ago.

i just read another thread yesterday that mentioned putting an auto flower in a pot up in a tree....fucking fantastic idea!...i dont see why it has to be an auto flower though...start it in the pot up in the tree and then train it to the tree...haha the only thing you would need would be a hose and a large ladder....lol
How would water/feed/prune it?

Here's something to chew on?
If I hybridized an MJ plant with a sage or any other plant for that matter and created a different genus would that genus be illegal also? Since it really is not Cannabis any more but a man made hybrid? Yeah you can tell I got way too much time on my hands...lol

^^^ i think this is a valid endeavor, for many of us risk prison to grow our recreational/medicine
in general, i think such hybridization attempts will fail, hops seems to be the closest plant family out there, i would guess hybrid attempts have been made
but who knows for sure, maybe there is some relative of cannabis that hasn't been found or tried for this purpose

some nice ideas here.... here's what i do, bending techniques near tomato and bean plants. for the woods i like Sumac trees and a vine (ie honeysuckle). cut down some small cedars and place them near. You can buy some cheap fake red berries and tie them to the plants, works well with vines. If you have a brier patch your in great luck just clear a circle for your MJ.
the best thing about sumacs is their flower/bud changes colors toward fall, i love it. I'm afraid to put caster bean in the woods because i think it will attract heli's, but def. in the garden.
oh an for the garden you can just look into row covers. (it'll also let you grow up through dec. according to where you live)

the sumac idea is killer, very tricky indeed!
i've always noticed how similar sumac can be to MJ, this is one idea that i would love to try

we hid a few between the bean vines.... tomatoes are good too, if you have a nice tall strain of them.
make sure you get a fragrant something that blooms in late summer too (like lilies. i have a big double oriental one and it was literally the only thing you could smell within a 3 house radius of us).

go to a garden center and take loads of random cuttings that look like your outdoor strain ... i,e purple japanese maple that mimicks both the size and bushyness of the crop

I bet if I was to bend the MJ stems down pretty far I could: Direct the plants energy to grow more side shoots and still get good yield. It would be easier to hide the MJ plants as they wouldn't poke above the rest of the plants in the border.
Anybody like that idea? I have to start soon. Its spring here now. Thanks to everybody for all your great ideas....ima go back and
+rep all you good people. Gardeners are such a happy bunch... Lol

that sounds like a LST without the spiral around the pot
buds should be under a foot in height, though that might depend on strain to some extent

yea, bending, that's the best approach to keeping it small and full of bud, other than topping. Piece of advice, don't just tie the plant to get it to bend, support it with broken tobacco sticks or whatever. The wind can be brutal to a tied plant.

Please tell me what is LST?
I've seen it before but don't know what it stands for.
Thanks

LST stands for Low Stress Training, typically done on an inside grow
starts at about about 3 nodes or so, you use string(or something like it) to pull the plant top gently down
plant grows in a horizontal direction, as it reaches the edge of the pot, you continue to tie down so as to have it follow the pot rim
so doing this outside ought to be even easier, you can point the plant growth where ever you like
but i haven't tried this yet outside, just on small inside grows
some strains take to it better than others, that's been my brief experience with it

i havent tried the LST , i' ve seen pics of the steam when the buds are picked. Have you let some flower like that? I'm interested in where the buds are, how many shoots you have, and do they grow near the same size? oh and are you using a clone or a seed?

i have done 2 lst's, 1 a nirvana PPP from seed, the other HGS nl#5 from clone(clone came from a reveg)
the nl#5 was classic, everything symmetrical, buds straight up out of nodes like soldiers at attention
the PPP didn't lst the same at all, it came out like a crooked plant, not at all like the nl#5
but both yields were good, and results overall were good, so strain does seem to matter in the manner of growth
