Can clones be pollinated when not in flower?

Are new female clones or the mother plant safe to be veged around pollen producing male plants while they are not flowering?

I realize that pollen sticks around for a while but antisipate my breeding project to be done well before the clones (or mother) are ready to go into bloom 12/12​
