I'm buiding poor myself a new 'dual COB' light ..
( I 've to ..I 've no single light to my ownership right now ...)
My second of the -so called -" V series " ...

The drivers are placed ,slightly to the front end of the plate .
That for 'balancing ' the weight of the rear plate- carrying the small Meanwell 12 VDC PSU ,the power outlet
posts and the EMI filter/AC input socket .

And that is -most of - the basic design ,of the " V series "dual COB lights .
Either utilising CXA3070 or Vero29 L.E.D. arrays ...

And the two most popular COBs in Sketch Up models.
(.skp file in zip folder )

-Models are converted from original cad/mesh files ,provided by manufacturer -(STEP files).
SimLab STEP importer was used ,for converting STEP cad files into 3D sketch up models.

After doing some thermal simulation ,at least ..
(with a heatsink as similar to the one used ...
|Could not find any other ...The actual heatsink used weighs 1990 grams and it has 16 thicker fins ,as also twice as thick base ,than the one used at the simulation.Still ,the sim assumes of 100% full contact of COB thermal pad- TIM -heatsink surfaces .So taking account the plus from the one side and the minus from the other ,the sim most probably represents quite good the real-life results ..)

{ 80 mm distance from center to center of the square thermal pads ,instead of 100 mm )

Plenty of them ...
I mean plenty ...

..Dam' hard job to die ,with multivitamins (+ minerals )...
The artificial raspberry taste they had ,almost killed me though...
Didn't work out back then,never tried it ever again ...
Diarrhea also,was awfull ..Something not to remember ,but I can't ...

So...
As my big fat momma says :

" Stay on the prescription ,cut off the BS."

I've became a ...fan of large diameter fans ...
(they push serious amounts of air ,with as low power dissipation as 1 Watt !
And as silent possible -cause of their low rpm )

Noctuas are pretty good and really silent ..
But quite expensive...
And my favourite model (NF P-14 FLX ) is discontinued ,and I don't like the Redox series model .

NF A-14 FLX is very good ,too...
But has not that fantastic and convenient circular frame ...

Still, I consider those three-much cheaper than Noctuas - alternatives ...

Nice light :) is the control on the front to a potentiometer that controls the intensity of the cobs? I also have not seen drivers like that before are they different to mean well ? Really swish looking light. Thanks for sharing.

Yes ,it is a common dimming function .
Will be set to 300 mA - 2100/2200 mA range .
(drivers rated as 1.95 A Io max ,but they output close to 2.2 A

Min limit is set by the small blue Bourns trimmer at the pot ,
while max limit is set at each driver -they have trimmers for Io mx & Vo max ,
as also maxing out Vo trimmer
sets the drivers from Consrtant current mode into Constant voltage mode .

The COB wiring is soldered .( SAC -SnAgCu - Lead-free solder alloy used in every solder joint )

I have one of the noctua flx, 140 mm nice fan well made and quiet , but I was not impressed with the cfm\static pressure. I'm thinking of running it at 15V instead of 12V.

Since then I picked up a couple of rosewill hypobera, decent pricing and check out the air pressure!

and oh btw do you know how to hook up an led to the tach wire so I can visually see that the fan is working ? My understanding is connect a resistor plus led from 12Vdc to the yellow tach wire But I don't know what ohm resistor and what led to use for a nice bright strobing signal.
