can i clone a plant without using cloning gel or powder?

i am on a very tight budget and just graduated highschool and i was wondering if cloning gel or powder is a necessity or just highly recommended for use?

if you want to increase your chances of success , then take the obvious choice.

i am literally putting 50 cents in quarters in my tank when i can otherwise i cant drive. i honestly cannot get three or four dollars to spend on this stuff.....

recycle cans and bottles for a few bucks..or maybe talk to some other gardeners in your area - they probably would have some for you to borrow. or i know theres a way you can make your own homemade rooting hormone...you boil the branches of a certain tree ...google it

Just take cuttings and put them in a glass of water until you see little pimples on the stems, then plant in a small pot of moist soil. Cloning for free, takes 2-3 weeks for rooted clones.

If you have access to a willow tree you can get a hormone from the stalks. It's an old fashioned method. Make a tea from a handful of willow shoots and soak the clones for 10 - 15 minutes in the tea.
 
you can actully use honey. lol it sounds weird but it works i do it with mine. IT takes longer for the roots longer to develope but it does work.
