Thanks bro, appreciate it. She is budding nicely and she has lots of undergrowth with smaller popcorn buds, they are getting in the way when I try to water. The top main cola is filling in nicely and I would like the plant to concentrate on it!!! One more question, can I cut them off at the same time or do one at a time per day to see how she responds??? +rep to ya, peace

From what I have learned, I cut them closest to the main branch? I am talking the whole shoot, not just the fan leaves, right?? I've read about cloning, I just want to help out the main stem colas, I figure the plant will focus on upper colas. My top buds are swelling, looks like an indica dominant plant, large fan leave stems are purple, all other stems are nice and green, plant is very healthy, about six weeks flowering. There are about five spindly shoots that have popcorn buds and they were lst'd, they are in the way when i water. I am going to clone a few to see how it is done. My other plants are outside doing nicely also! Thanks fellow smokers!!!+rep to you all

yep.. get as close to the main stem as you can and remove the entire shoot... use a sharp cutting utensil to make the cut.. make sure to dip it in rubbing alcohol after each cut to avoid your plant getting an infection at the cut site... make the cut as clean as possible... use something like thrive alive or another shock inhibiting product... and your girls will be thankful

good luck and happy harvesting.... hope its a fat one

oh and remember... if you take clones this far into the flowering stage they will still root.. but expect about 3 weeks before roots will start growing... itll take a while longer to revert back and start rooting since its this far into flowering..

well, the guy who kept saying yes is wrong. cutting too much at one time can easily cause a plant to go into severe shock and hermie, especially this far into flower. it's never a good idea to cut a lot of branches at one time, even in veg. i don't think 3 or 4 will be a problem. that's what i do, but the majority of my cutting is in veg. i wouldn't be allowing any alcohol to come into contact with my plant either.

Shit, conflicting info, now i'm on sensory overload. I just got baked and now I am paranoid, like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and there will be balls all over her, getting gangbanged!!! Shit, now what, I cut about four long shoots off of her. Two were almost pencil thickness stems????? Well, it's my first grow so if she grows balls then I'll smoke her anyway. Too late to worry about it now. The top cola is getting niiiiiiiice!!!! My outdoor plant is looking sativa-ish, leaves are actually getting thinner?? Weird???

4 or 5 branches should be no problem. dude, you'll always get conflicting info. there's more than one way to skin a cat. just remember, this is a situation when having some quality genetics will probably pay off. sometimes you have strong gens, and the plants have no problems. but if you're growing out some bunk, you may have probs. some breeders purposefully shock their crosses repeatedly, to try and induce shock. this is one of the main reasons some breeders charge so much for their beans. they've spent countless hours/dollars, fine tuning their products.

Dude, keep us updated when you smoke it, curious if there'll be a buzz at all. I also have some bagseed (sativa), plant is doing pretty good but a few tasty looking side branches I'd like to cut as you did to help the main cola...

Also don't worry she'll be ok. I think stress can hermie a plant but I believe its based more on GENETICS. I started with 3 plants, all of which I treated the *exact* same (same watering schedule, nutrients, air, light and same soil). During flowering they were all in pitch darkness (I had my wife lock me in my grow tent to ensure the darkness) and still the one hermied. So I'm gonna make an educated guess and say it was a genetic thing.

Why would a female turn into a half male under stress when a male under stress doesn't turn into half female? I guess things aren't always so black and white in biology but thats just my two cents.

Thanks guys for the positive reinforcement, +rep to both of ya. Yeah, so far she took the cutting very well, no problems! Yes, she is a bagseed hoe! Pistils on top main cola have been turning slightly pink, only near the top of bud, wish I had a camera that works, she sure is pretty. In just two days I have noticed fattening of the main cola and all the buds after the cutting/trimming, all the buds lining the main stem. I also have noticed some fan leaves near the top bud are starting to get brownish spots on them, I am hoping she is going to finish before the end of the month, I have to go on a trip in early June for four days, hate to leave her alone. One question I have is none of the leaves on the plant are yellowing yet, none! Shouldn't all plants get yellowing leaves when it is getting close to finishing??? All the pics I have seen with mature buds usually have yellowing leaves somewhere on the plant???

im replying to the guy who said he wouldnt use rubbing alcohol cause it would get in his plant. wrong i think just about everyone knows youre supposed to disinfect the scissors with rubbing alc before you cut a clone so that you DONT harm the plant. and with the whole cutting afer flowering thing, i recieved 2 clones from a friend he had been flowering for a couple weeks, when i got the clones they had white hairs all over them they did take about 2 1/2 weeks to root but they were fine and so was the mother they came off of.

that's pretty extreme seeing as how the plants have their biggest growth spurt in the first weeks of flowering ("the stretch")

I'm using all cfl's, no pics of my grow, maybe you are referring to above. I have 4 45 watt 2700k on top of plant with reflector, and ten 26 watters surrounding plant. The top main cola (didn't top it) is about as thick as a normal handheld flashlight and it spans the top 1/3 of the main stem, tons of undergrowth bud on main stem and smaller colas from sideshoots. The plant is about 22-24 inches tall! Bigger buds than I expected for cfl's! Should get at least two ounces dry from this hoe, maybe more, she doesn't look near done yet, better than I expected. My outside plant is getting HUGE!!! It is about four feet tall now, was flowering before I put outside, looks to still be flowering, getting fat, wider than a typical xmas tree from all the sideshoots coming up. Huge hoe!! My first grow is turning out to be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peace to all, and to all a good night.
