Can I grow an Autoflower on 18/6 for a month then 12/12 for rest??

  • Hi I have just started Dinafem's Original Amnesia and Fruit. Both are feminized and autoflower. I have germinated those and also Barney's farm Pineapple Chunk and Samsara El Aquimista. Both are feminized as well, just not autos. I was thinking of doing a month in veg for the Pineapple Chunk and El Aquimista. That would mean I'd be switching the autoflower's to 12/12 a month in also. Or I could grow the autos on 18/6 till they're done and let the Pineapple Chunk and El Aquimista veg for 2 months?

Let me know what you guys think! Any help is appreciated!

For that matter, can you grow an autoflower with 24 hours light? I have the same 2 auto strains you have as freebies and would just put them out side the tent for a side grow if possible.

I've done it a bunch of times and the difference is less than you would think.
It's natural to want to finish autos at 12/12 as that is where the non-autos
planted at the same time would be, just going from veg to flower mode.

First, do your vegging at 20/4 instead of 18/6. Most autos prefer a 20/4 cycle throughout
their lives. Most all non-autos will do the same/better vegging at 20/4 as 18/6.

Autos tend to be shorter, so when you flip from 20/4 to 12/12 you might want to do some redecorating.
Put the autos' pots on something that puts them closer to the light. The autos are giving up hours of light
and you want to help by giving them stronger light, eh? Also, I run autos in small pots so I water them
every day. Don't underwater autos if you can help it. They stunt easy if they get too dry young.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Thanks for your 2 cents bigsteve! I will be looking more into running 20/4 light cycle instead of 18/6. I will be using a book or a box or something in order to keep the plants close to the lights at all time. But also would a normal feminized seed do better vegging for 2 months and then flowering for 2 months? Let me know ! :D

Heard of a guy who ran into an issue similar to this on some "mystery auto-beans"... turned out pretty bad. transplanted them, topped them, watched them turn male in sadness. One lone auto survivor, and another strain he's been working on. Basically 18/6 looks like this at week 8. For Him anyway... Also with the issues of not knowing what he was fucking with. Looks like about an Optimistic ounce plant. Smells crazy good though.
