can i name a plant just because i crossed it myself and cant find it anywhere

got the Alaskans from one of my bosses plants that was hermaphrodite and the mob boss was fist gen and i grew those and crosses them

For Monsanto to claim ownership they'll have to prove they own the genetics as IP and with all this shit being on the internet as not being grown by them it won't happen. These aren't grain seeds where they've dominated the market for generations.

I prefer to do that as well but still like to give a cross a nickname. It's still document what it was crossed with. I just like shorter names and not a bunch of Xs.

You can name a strain anything you want if you are not releasing it. Best to Google the strain name and see if it is use if you are sharing it with people to avoid problems.

Companies cant patent strains that already exist.

I beg to differ there is a company in England that makes topical meds and a spray for your mouth and they have patents on the strain itself and certain canibinoids they have also patented. It's pretty fucked up if you ask me. I don't get how someone else can own a plant. MONEY. MONEY and you can do anything you want. As for naming strains go for it till your heart is content. People do it every day. Even dealers name there pot and they usually don't have a clue what it is.
