Can I switch lights

This is my first grow and I have been vegging 5 plants with 24 hrs of light under a four bulb t5. And they are beginning to get too big for me to keep them under the t5 I have. My question is can I finish vegging them under an hps or an mh for the remainder of the time? If so would an MH be better for veg? And would I want to keep them at 24 hrs or could I switch them to 18x6 at the same time I switch the light? I have a 600watt set up....Thanks I'm new to both growing and the forum any help is greatly appreciated

Yes you can switch lights and continue to VEG. MH or COBs would be my choice for vegging. I stopped using 24 hours on as I didn't see enough growth to justify keeping the lights on all day. I clone and veg with 18/6. Good luck.

Awesome thanks bud! And I was going 24 hrs because I was nervous about my night time temp. But I think I'm good. It's like 74° Lights on and I project it to maybe fluctuate 10 degrees lower during lights out? That fluctuation should be fine right?

10 degrees is no problem. Might want to lower the light schedule a couple hours each time a couple days apart so as not to stress the plants but it might not make any difference if you just go to 18. Start with the MH higher than usual and lower it a few inches every couple days so you don't burn the tops as they get used to the higher intensity light.

I have a heater on a thermostat I put together from a baseboard heater thermostat I picked up at the hardware store for $15. Can keep the temps right where I want them.
