Can I use Cyco with Fox Farm OF?

Howdy all - quick question: I won a platinum nute pack from Cyco in a raffle :)

Can I use that with a current grow in Fox Farm's Ocean Forest? I've read that ffof has enough nutes to last a while but I'm in the middle of Week 6 of veg and haven't added a thing. My plants look good (I think) but some are lighter green up top and there are a couple random lower leaves with some spots that look brown. Is it safe to start using this nute pack, following the directions and diluting a bit?

Here is a pic of my ladies from last night :)

I guess a better way to phrase the question would be - when is it safe/good to start adding nutes to ffof?

Any synthetic designed around hydro will work. You must feed one watering and then straight water, feed, straight water, feed and so on. They look awful damn nice now so maybe half strength starting a week or two down the road.....It's always easier to add more then have to reduce after seeing damage. I would use the "zyme" in their nute package about once a week to aid in soil. You don't need to more due to being in soil.

looking good!

Awesome, thanks for the info. Some of my lower leaves are showing some signs of hunger (a couple spots and lightening of the shade), so I'll start at half strength next watering.

The Cyco feeding schedule only goes up to week 6 for veg and I don't plan on flipping for a couple weeks at least. Should I just go with half strength of their week 6 schedule until I flip?

I would advise following Dr. Who's advice, trying a reduced concentration at first, watching to see how your girls take it. If they don't show any signed of burn or stress, then move the concentration up the next time you feed.

BTW... they look really nice so far!!!!

Good Luck!

Take a look, lower right hand side of the box with the text in it. You should see a Like and Reply. BUT... because you are a new member, you may not have been here long enough to have that option. The more you are here and are involved the mire points you get and the more you can do. Maybe that's why?

That was my plan, but I have 2 plants that are really lagging behind the others in growth so I wanted to wait another week or two. This Thursday will start week 7 though and I'm afraid they are starving (some lower leaves dying or spotted - not a lot, just one or two per plant)

Did you add any lime? Its necessary when using FFOF to add a tablespoon of lime at LEAST to counteract the acidifying effects of the peat moss! Your spotted dying leaves may be due to a low pH caused calcium deficiency

No I haven't added a thing yet. Just distilled water. How much lime would I need to add to a 3 gal pot?

OF has dolomite lime added. Sometimes, some find that it could use a little more. For you, say a cpl of TBL spoons should fit the bill.
At week 7 of veg. I would go up to 75% of strength of feed and work my way up to 100% every other watering over the next 2 weeks. Feed veg (do not use the XL in veg in soil) till the beginning of flower and then switch to bloom feeding as directed in the Cyco feed chart. I might not add the "SWELL" till the start of week 4 of flower. I would also use the "XL" ONE TIME at week 6 of flower if I were you. Other then those suggestions, use the platinum series as directed.

Hmm, I have 2 of those kits unused from last years HTG for business owners (day before public event) that they simply handed me. After looking at the feed chart online. I have a curious desire to run some hydro with this stuff for shits and giggles, just to see how it runs. They do some things at what I might call strange times for it. I kinda want to see what it does that way.

Any way. That's how I would run that stuff in soil for the first try. They seem to have ample N through out flower so if you get alarmed at some yellowing starting low and slowly moving up later in flower. I would say that's the higher P&K coming into play. It will finish out just fine so ignore that if it begins around week 5-6.

You should be good to go and Good Luck.

P.S. keep in mind that around now you maybe loosing a cpl of early leaves due to age and lack of light at the lowest parts of the plant. This is normal, don't sweat that. Keep going and start feeding.

You'll do fine!

Giggle,,,,Many a year ago (John Pertwee was the Dr. then) I lived in the UK for a cpl of years and got addicted to the show.
I simply love trivia and use the name for Buzztime too. Besides The Dr. always seemed to have the answer, didn't he? Might not have always been right, but he had the answer - LOL!

Thanks Dude.

Good Luck!
