alright dude check it out. computing amperages is ez.....watts / volts = amps in other words 600 wats divided by 110 v = 5.45 amps or if its 120 v its 5 amps. no more than 80 % on a circuit. 15 amps no more than 12 amps used or the circuit will trip. bathroom and kitchen counter/refridge circuits are rated at 20 amps. if u run 240 v tap off the range circuit u will use less amp and have more capacity even with ur range turned on. range circuits are usually 30 amp circuits but even if u were putting out 2000 total watts it would only draw 8.33 amps. as far as ur electric bill 600 watts for24 hours is only 14.4 Kw xtra per day. say ur charged about .09 cents per Kw hour (which is avg for electric consumption and fuel charge combined) ur talking an xtra 39.00/ mth for the light and a few bucks for the fans and other neccessities. Hope this helps have fun.

I have an older house which was pretty much maxed out with it's breaker panel when I bought the place. I replaced the old electric oven with a gas one, as well as the electric clothes dryer.

Bingo - I now had like 40 Amps available.

Too bad I didn't put it all toward a garden......

Back in college I asked my landlord if I could have a gas stove installed (I like cooking on gas) - The apt had the hook up, so he had no problem swapping it out.

600w will use 5.5amp (600w light + 10%(60w) ballast=660w)

660w / 120v = 5.5amp

a typical electric space heater runs at max 1500w, or 12.5A draw. your electric company is not going to notice anything suspicious from a single light operation, no matter when you pay your bill.

the most common ways to get busted are odor and, primarily, lax security. someone opens the wrong door looking for the bathroom. your buddies are over and you want to impress them with your operation. someone tells someone else who doesn't like you as much and they happen to need some leverage with the police. next thing you know you're face down wondering wtf happened, and this guy is laughing his ass off because he just got away with something at your expense. bottom line, keeping the whole deal under wraps is more important than your power consumption.
