so long as it says high pressure sodium bulb, then you are good.. i don't know much about that bulb in particular.. but hps bulbs are great for flowering, and decent for vegetive growth, although some people will say that hps will cause some stretching during vegetive growth, they will do the job well..
i am not sure about the internal ignitor in them, but i would guess that this would mean that they is no need for an external ballast for the bulbs..
i wanna see if i can find anymore info online for them before i say the wrong things to you, but as far as using an hps for growing, your golden.. 70 watts is not all that much, but if you like three or four of them, you would be able to grow a couple plants under them no prob..
i will try and get back on this after i try to find some more details for you

just looked them up online, and it does say that it contains an integral bottle ignitor and does not reqiure an external ignitor, ballast, but like i said in my first post, don't know too much about these bulbs... just know that hps are good for growing, but i am not positive about this bulb in particular..
hope this helps some.. but i would wait to see what anyone with some more experience has to say about these bulbs.. they look interesting..

i think this is the site where i found them at when i was looking for info.. it is right above your post on here in googles results, which i though was kinda funny. this site was saying that some of them did not have an itegral ignitor, and others did, and the one that you had listed did have one in it.. i think the larger watt ones need an external ballast to get them going, but i think i saw one that was like a 90 watter that had that integral bottle ignitor built into it..
sounds like a pretty kool bulb, and since you already have a 250hps, i am sure that this lil baby will help out alot..
good luck with your grow.. are you in the uk if you don't mind my asking? it had looked like some of the websites that were selling these bulbs were based in the uk.. i was just curious if these were mainly used in the uk or what the deal was with them..

well.. i just answered my own ?.. i looked at your post and saw that you do indeed live in the uk.. i am still cuirious though about how widely used these bulbs are outside of the uk.. you have 240 volt everything there, unlike the u.s, which uses the 120 volt for everything..

it sounds it.. have you just tried it out yet? i was curious as to whether you just plug them into a regular socket and all like a normal incadescent bulb... i always knew that work was good for something... i nearly pissed myself when you said that you found it at work and it was being used to light up the car park, but not anymore.. i was thinking it wasn't anymore cuz it is now lighting up your babies.. or soon to be.. lol... i used to stea... err, borrow all kinds of good things from me old job.. don't know why they ever laid me off, ,lol...
let us know how it works out for ya.
