is it possible to take cuttings for clones from a plant that's in the beginning of the flowering stage???

So how would you know the sex of the cutting unless you waited for the mother to show sex, by starting flowering. It seems to me, that is the only way to ensure female clones!

I take cuttings from plants I have sexed by putting them into 12/12.
I don't like to try and root male clones so I stated to take them once I saw the first tiny pistils appear, to make certain that I wasted no time with male cuttings.
I think It takes longer for these cuttings to root and as mentioned above the failure rate is higher, also they go thru a longer transitional phase to get back to full vegetation....some of the leaves look weird, but after awhile they straighten out and do fine. I think this adds about a week to ten days to the veg cycle....they take a little longer to get to the size you want.
But they are all girls!
