Can year old nutes cause yellowing on new growth?

I'm growing a cutting of Girl Scout Cookies that I planted outdoors about 2 weeks ago. Everything was going well so I topped the plant (about 12" tall) on Monday evening and by the next day all the new growth started turning yellow. All the older fan leaves are still dark green and there doesn't appear to be any other discoloration on any leaves, just the bright yellow on new growth. Even the veins are yellow, but the edges of the new yellow leaves still have some green.

I started with Dr Earth potting soil and I'm using Biothrive Grow and CaMg. I've given the plant two feedings in the first two weeks with about a cap full of each product. I'm using tap water, same as last year, that I pour and let sit for at least an hour before adding nutes and watering.

The only thing I can say is different this year, besides the plant itself, is that the nutes were leftover from last year. I shake them very well before using, and they seem to smell exactly the same as they did when newly opened.

I'll try to post pics later today. I'm guessing the problem is most likely a sulfur deficiency but I'd appreciate any input you can give regarding using year old organic nutrients as being a potential cause of the problem.
