Is this true?
are air pots legit?
what pot (not as $$ as air pots) and size are good?
I have air pots and smart pots both have the ups/downs but I wouldn't choose any other pots, from all the side by side comparison it seems the smart pot makes a bigger plant from my observation. My plants go straight from a 4" plastic pot to a 1-2 gal smart pot and thats it. The reason for a smaller pot is that I can water more often in flower and it drains well my plants love it but again I try to keep the whole cycle around 90 days from clone so factor in how long your veg time is and flower.

I have before and worked great. I never transplant autos. My setup works better if I keep them in solo cups. More fit in veg tent under my t5. Then I transplant to 5 gallon bucket when they are ready to veg
