Can you take clones from a flowering plant?

lol i just posted a thread about my clone taken from my flowering plant and then saw this. you totally can, mine got a little messed up cause i nute burned it but it works the same

yes u can it just might take a little longer than usual but it works

would it be a bad idea to flower a few clones to see the females from males, and then force all the females back into veg and of course throwing away all your males

you mean flower the PLANTS to see which are male and which are female? clones will be whatever sex of the plants they are clipped from.

Im pretty sure you can flower to sex then revert back to veg, but it seems like it would put a lot of stress on the plant to me.

i dunno if its a bad idea, but yea that works. i would just take one clone from each plant, and you dont have to throw away all your males (unless you want to) i usually just isolate one to get seeds for the next grow..

it would have been better to do this with the plant you took the clones from then you would know wtf you have. If you took cuttings from a plant that was flowering then you have females. Is this a trick?

Sorry I am stoned now I see what your asking. You Should NOT do this as it will take longer for plants to come out of the shock than it would to just keep vegging what you have. After the 5th set of leaves you should start to see pre flowers and you can tell what is what without stressing the plant and putting it 12/12 just to see. Also it is NOT a good idea to take cuttings from a immature plant, just a bad idea the clones may not have all the traits they need as its not mature itself and unknown if its a runt or stem only with not lot of bud etc. A plant should normally take about 4 weeks to mature or get to the 5 set of leaves. It will show its sex normally at this stage then you will know which ones to clone. This way you have a legit clone and can make a mother plant from there and be done with the seeds for a bit if you like the strain. Dont rush trying to sex the plant because it needs proper time to mature properly not having to show sex while still immature thus causing more stress and possibly causing hermy
