I'm creating this thread to include a variety of additional questions asked, hopefully this stays near the top to be easily found by newcomers.

ORIGINAL FAQ:

I'm writing this thread to answer anyone's questions about the MMAR program, and legalities involved within it.

First piece of advice, like any other major government organism, they are Paper run, this means that decisions made are based entirely on data on paper. Because of this, one can take literally what is said on any official government form, but in order to do this, one must first be have an advanced understanding of the English language.

I'll start off the FAQ with this question

Q: Do I need to complete Form F if I'm renting and intend to grow my medicine in my primary residence?

A: No, you do not. As outlined in Form C section C2 (For patient), and Form D section D4 (For DG), The only time you require consent is if you do NOT live at the production site. Rental or not. This HAS been verified with HC.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: When do I need to fill out form F?

A: The ONLY time you need to fill out Form F is if the production site is both a rental, and you DO NOT live there.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do I know if HC has received my application?

A: Unfortunately, if you've already sent in the application, I cannot help, but if you have not, I recommend sending your application via XpressPost, and opt for "Signature Required On Delivery". This way, you can verify with Xpresspost if someone at HC has signed for it. (Xpresspost gives tracking numbers)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Do you have any additional advice on filling out the forms?

A: Of course, I recommend printing your name at the BOTTOM of every page, this ensures HC cannot claim "Sections were missing".
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: Bold or Bold Underline text is NOT me "Yelling", it's me pointing out key pieces of Information or key words.

UPDATED QUESTIONS:

Q: Where can I buy Seeds?

A: Legally, the only place to buy seeds you plan to plant is from Health Canada. However, since the sale of cannabis seeds for souvenir is not illegal, so I would recommend purchasing from a reputable seed bank such as Attitude Seed Bank, or Vancouver Seed Bank, and others like them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How much cannabis am I allowed to have in my possession under Health Canada's MMAR Program?

A: You can have 30 days supply at any point on your person under Health Canada's MMAR Program. You cannot have any more than this both on your person and in storage at home combined.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How much am I allowed to have on my person and in storage with a PPL (Personal Production License)?

A: On your person remains the same as in the previous qeustion, Grams/day*30, Storage on the other hand can be a little bit tricky, so I'm going to break it down in Math Terms. These is the EXACT calculations used by Health Canada for calculating storage limits with a PPL broken down based on a 5 gram per day MMAR;

I have built a Calculator for download HERE, it equates all info required, from Amount in possession, to amount stored, and everything in between.

If the production area is entirely indoors

Plant Count

D = [(A x 365) / (B x 3C)] x 1.2
where A is the grams per day of cannabis (marihuana)
where B is 30 grams, being the expected yield of dried marihuana per plant,
where C is a constant equal to 1
where D is the number of plants entirely indoors
D = [(5 x 365) / (30 x 3(1))] x 1.2
D = [1825/90] x 1.2
D = 20.277777777778 x 1.2
D = 24.333333333333
Round that up
D = 25

Expected yield
Y = D x B
Y = 25 x 30
Y = 750

Storage
E = D x B x 1.5

E = 25 x 30 x 1.5
E = 1125

If the production area is entirely outdoors

Plant Count
D = [(A x 365) / (B x C)] x 1.3
where A is the grams per day of dried cannabis (marihuana)
where B is 250 grams, being the expected yield of dried marihuana per plant
where C is a constant equal to one

D = [(5 x 365) / (250 x 1)] x 1.3
D = [1825/250] x 1.3
D = 7.3 x 1.3
D = 9.49
Round that up
D = 10

Expected yield
Y = D x B
Y = 10 x 30
Y = 2500

Storage
E = D x B x 1.5
E = 10 x 250 x 1.5
E = 3750

If the production area is partly indoors and partly outdoors

(i) for the indoor period
Plant Count
D = [(A x 182.5) / (B x 2C)] x 1.2 where A is the grams per day of cannabis (marihuana)
where B is 30 grams, being the expected yield of dried marihuana per plant,
where C is a constant equal to 1
where D is the number of plants entirely indoors

D = [(5 x 182.5) / (30 x 2(1))] x 1.2
D = [912.5 / 60] x 1.2
D = 15.208333333333 x 1.2
D = 18.25
Round that up
D = 19

Expected yield
Y = D x B
Y = 19 x 30
Y = 570

Storage
E = D x B x 1.5
E = 25 x 250 x 1.5
E = 1875

(ii) for the outdoor period
Plant Count

D = [(A x 182.5) / (B x C)] x 1.3
where A is the grams per day of dried cannabis (marihuana)
where B is 250 grams, being the expected yield of dried marihuana per plant
where C is a constant equal to one
D = [(5 x 182.5) / (30 x 1)] x 1.3
D = [912.5/30] x 1.3
D = 30.416666666667 x 1.3
D = 4.745
Round that up
D = 5

Expected yield
Y = D x B
Y = 5 x 30
Y = 1250

Storage
E = D x B x 1.5
E = 25 x 250 x 1.5
E = 1875

The thing to remember here, is that plant count equates to anything from sprouted seed to ready to harvest plant, and storage equates to anything after harvest (Drying, Curing ETC), Remember to consider how heavy plants are when harvested, and how light they get once dried.

Q: What Dosage can I expect from my Doctor?

A: This will be determined between yourself and your doctor, your doctor should not limit you to what HE thinks is sufficient, you need to tell them how much you use, in what forms, let them know that 30 grams of RAW cannabis equates to 3 grams of good extract, which is used for baking, and a variety of other much less harmful ways to medicate than smoking, as smoking is first and foremost the most dangerous method of administration, due to smoke inhalation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Will I get a MMAR Plastic card?

A: This is uncertain, many MMAR applications have been handed out with and without plastic cards, the ones without informing that no plastic cards are currently being issued, and your left with a full on document that you have to keep safe from abuse. If you are one who receives the document form, I HIGHLY recommend getting it laminated. Hand your Production License on the outside of your grow box (unless your using a stealth type system, then put it somewhere safe, but accessible) and keep a COLOR COPY of your possession license on your person at all times. NEVER CARY YOUR OFFICIAL POSSESSION LICENSE ON YOU, ONLY COPIES!!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can you recommend a doctor to me to sign my MMAR?

A: Unfortunately no, I cannot, the only real (and TBH, worthwhile) advice anyone's really been able to give is educate yourself on cannabis, it's medical properties, and educate your doctor. This will be in the long run the most effective (not necessarily for you, but for the movement of Cannabis as Medicine in general) course of action, the problem with our doctors is their level of education with Cannabis, which for most is next to no education at all.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can I make a career out of being a Designated Grower?

A: According to Health Canada, a DG and a patient are to work out their own payment agreement that suits both parties. HC does NOT oversee this, and is entirely between the DG and the patient. DG's CANNOT sell to anyone but their own authorized patient. So in short, the answer to this question is Yes, you can make a career out of this, as long as you sell only to the person(s) you are a designated grower for, you are fine.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm keeping my own personal feelings out of this FAQ. This is for information only, not for me to express my views.

This concludes my updated MMAR FAQ. I will add more questions as they appear in a newer FAQ, not being able to edit old posts makes this kind of ongoing FAQ impossible to keep in one thread.

It just sucks you have to be so sick to get access here.I could probably manipulate the system but thats just not right.I smoke marijuana to relieve day to day stress.Im not depressed by any means but it helps me unwind after a stressful day.As a tax payer and an adult I shouldn't have to invent an illness to get access to something that makes my life more enjoyable.

I roll almost the same way except I roll cones w/ filter and I use my papers to pack it before rolling.

15 years has more than eliminated any problems with consistency :)

What happened to your hand?

Sounds like you could have used one of these...

My wood shop teacher in high school would faint at the sight of blood... between his booze shakes and that I figured it wasn't the best job fit for him. But he had a nice mustache, so he pulled it off.

You had mentioned in another thread about the legalities surrounding a designated grower in terms of charging patients for production and how they weren't legally allowed to profit from growing for an MMAR patient and can only charge for the hydro/water/etc required to grow...

Where can I find this information?

In this instance, I was wrong, HC allows DG's to charge their patients a price agreed upon between both parties (DG and Patient)
