CANNA Nutes & Submersible Fountain Pump

So I have a quick question that I can't seem to find an answer to but before that I'll let you know what the setup is like....
I will be doing 4 autoflower seeds in 3 gallon smart pots and will be using the tropf blumat drip system which is a gravity fed automatic watering setup.... i plan on using a black 5 gallon bucket as my reservoir and I can't seem to find where I saw somebody post that air stones cause the organic nutes to break down, is this true?
also on the same grow journal this guy was using a submersible pond pump to churn the water in his res to keep it mixed thoroughly and moving around rather than sitting stagnant. does anybody have any input on this?
i was thinking about buying this table top 120v fountain pump that is 30gph and has an adjustable setting so that water doesn't go flying up and splashing back down in the reservoir..... i just want it to keep the water moving.
Thanks for the help in advance guys!

By the way, here is the link to the pump i was considering...

Not so sure about the air stones breaking down organic nutes to be honest, but if you are going to have a resevoir, you really need to have both circulation, and aeration.

The circulation keeps all your nutrients mixed up. The areation keeps oxygen in the nutrient mixture as marijuana plants roots require oxygen and will quickly remove it from water.

Now, what you can do is combine both of those by figuring out someway to make a waterfall inside your resevoir. As the water falls and splashes back into itself it will aerate itself. You can do this by keeping your water pump at the bottom of your bucket, have it pump up a tube or pipe, have a 180 turn so the outlet of the water faces back down into the bucket.

This also saves you money on both hardware and electricity.

thanks for the quick response.
i was told on the blumat thread that the water drops that hang on the end of the drip tube pick up enough oxygen before they make contact with the coco.... have you ever heard anything about this?

i'm also wondering if the nutrients will damage these fresh water pumps..... it doesn't seem as though it would be a problem but i figured i would just go ahead and ask.

Never have heard that before. However, there is a difference between "enough" and "extra". Maybe the drops at the end of the drip tube might pick up "enough" water, but more oxygen is always better. Something I am sure most growers will agree. It's very rare that a plant has too much oxygen to it's roots, in fact the opposite is usually true more often.

But I would love to hear others input.

It depends on what nutrients you use. Some are thicker and clog pumps easier, while others are much thinner. If you are going to use a thicker type nutrient, then just make sure the pump you use has a filter in front of the inlet.

the nutes are canna coco. i figured that if i did the filter option i would wrap like some 200 micron mesh around the pump since i saw somebody mention that on another thread when i was looking around for info on this subject.
