Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome, questions

I also have chs, pretty fucking sure. I grow my own weed, and I only smoke what I, or my friend, grow. Neither of us use pesticides or anything like that. I grow in dwc hydro, he grows in soil/hempys. I am 35 now, and have smoked since I was 32 to help me relax due to wartime ptsd.

I was absolutely clueless as to what was making me sick. I started getting sick about six weeks ago. Daily, multi-time user. I was laying here in bed this morning, feeling like death was breathing down the back of my fucking neck, and my missus made my sick ass go sit in the hot shower. I went from running on fumes to feeling at 50%.

This really sucks for me, as I love some fucking cannabis, lol! Just wanted to chime in, as I just recently developed this about six weeks ago like I said. Prior to that, sometimes when I smoked I would immediately get nauseous right after, then be fine. While after that, I started with the whole cyclical vomiting thing, no appetite, etc. I even had the legit worst panic attack in my life one morning after an excellent night a few nights ago. Played Borderlands 2 with my bro, laughing and giggling, but when I woke up the next morning...sweet Christmas. Really thought I was gonna die. Felt like shit this morning. Took that hot ass shower...whatever it was mostly sloughed off me like running hot water through a well-used piece of glass.

If anyone would like more details, feel free to pm me.

I feel i only get such symptoms from dispensary weed. And only one dispensary is specific. Reef Dispensary. Idk what the fuck they use on their plants but almost every sack i have bought from there has small white particles on the buds. Different strains different times same weird looking white shit. Get this naucious feeling and the weed always has this weird smell to it. Same thing same weird almost bud rot smell. I don't fuck with that place no more but that's the only time i ever felt weird from smoking weed ever.

Do you use neem oil or derivatives like Azamax?

As a former weed broker, its definitely grower specific. Not strain specific, grower specific. Take from that what you will. Every grower with nausea bud grows with bottles btw. Some of the best looking bud on this site, couldn't move the stuff cuz every strain: nausea/gut burn instead of flavor.

Interesting.

My circle of friends had it down to neem oil derived pesticides but maybe there's more than one cause.

I have chs and I grow my own, it is only brought on when I smoke too many concentrates or too many grams a day of strong weed. I get it from my weed and others. Some strains seem to be worse for sure.

Was reading around and decided to revive this thread since you wanted to know someone who grows and has chs.

I grow with ffof and the ff trio. No pesticides. If you would like to know more about my experience just ask.

Chs is very real, it isn't from poison or bad weed it is very much "too much of a good thing"

The only way to feel better is to quit and take hot baths for relief. When quitting it's like withdrawl it gets worse, insomnia and then the dreams when you quit. I get headaches and nausea too when I quit.
Insomnia, heavy dreams/nightmares,boredness & nausea are normal everytime i quit, it usually last about two weeks and doesn't taper off until the end of the first week, appetite also gets funky and the nausea can make you throw up.

I've never had CHS but have had anxiety related issues from concentrates & kind of rare but sometimes certain sativas. Sometimes i feel people get CHS and anxiety attacks mixed up a bit, as a hot shower usually wont stop a cannabis induced anxiety attack.

I truly don't believe that excess cannabinoids could cause CHS (IMHO) but only because that was not my experience, i could be wrong.

Excess thc caused me anxiety and it was easy to tell the excess because the full effect of the high would always carry over to the next day from doing a stupid amount of concentrates on the previous night, you literally wake up stoned and it drags you all day.

Anyone have any articles ect they want to post up?
Would love to read more about this.

Interesting, seems to be linked to chronic receptor stimulation which makes me wonder if its only a certain set of cannabinoids that trigger CHS.

They directly blame "THC" as the trigger, which feels a bit too simple right? Seems like it hasn't been researched much yet.
Removing it from Schedule I is the key. Few research facilities are approved for cannabis at present. Much of what we do know comes from Israel.

Not much reading material, no real studies other than ER information gathered from patients. Very small percentage of daily users for more than two years who have had "CHS", is my guess.

Takes two to tango. My body and some issue with cannabis, and maybe something else. Thc, cbd, cbn, thca, terpenes, whatever does not do this in everyone after too much or too long, only a few of us have the opportunity. Mine might have been a combo of gall bladder issues and my bodies reaction combined with cannabis. Yet with gall bladder removed in 2013 and several episodes since then, two years I was fine and in February another 24 hours of hell. I never used hot bath, wave of nausea, violent dry heaves, sweats, chills, coma for a couple of hours, do over. Do not eat or drink or smoke as it always got worse.

Very complex issue with no real medical research.

I call BS on neem, dispensary crap, using bottled nutrients, and overdosing, and that I used too much. Use the same amount for 10 years, have used all the above and my own organic bud, only my own bud for two years. Bro science in a lot of comments.

Have you tried the capsaicin cream, in link above?

So have some questions, based on observations. Those observations being that since about 2011 have had multiple patients in the ER with Hyperemesis not related to chemo, nor liver/pancreas/gallbladder issues, nor pregnancy. All were chronic daily users of cannabis. They all bought from different dispensaries. None were home growers. Half had the very tell tail sign of relief with hot showers.

Here's my question; anyone on here ever been diagnosed with Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome CHS? Were you strictly using your own home grown, dispensary, or mix of both?

I've read the theories that azamax is a suspect in this Syndrome. The pattern of daily nausea/vomiting that suddenly goes away, sometimes for months, then suddenly returns, doesn't make sense if it's a cannabinoid. But if the emetic agent is only in SOME of their bud, and it's randomly purchased, that would explain the timing, and persistence of the symptoms. Person buys an oz of contaminated bud, smokes it for two weeks, getting nausea and vomiting after a couple days, symptoms persist, they finish that batch, couple more days go by, their system clears as they smoke clean bud again.

CHS is awful. Would love to feel more confident when I give patients feedback that they should stick with a grower that's producing bud that not making them sick.

Thanks.
I myself had similar symptoms, right down to the shower parts. I wasn't officially diagnosed, but I was using neem oil indoors.

I agree on bro science. There is lots of info on this syndrome on line. It is caused by the thc receptors in the brain loosing their effectiveness (anti-nausea) while the thc receptors in the gut (which cause nausea) are working on full steam.
This is exasperated by the THC that is stored in our fat cells being released from fasting (6 to 8 hour sleep) and stress.
The only cure is abstenence untill all the THC is out of our fat cells (3 to 4 weeks).
20 years ago I was hospitalized 3 times for this but had no clue it was caused by weed.
I find when I loose my appetite after smoking and waking with no appetite and anxiety.
I've just started my weed free month.

Bullshit. Before I ever heard of neem oil this want a thing. I used Azamax and suddenly there was an issue. Stopped using it and it went away. So much for 'bro science'.

Doctors like to blame anything they can on Cannabis Hyperemesis when you are state healthcare. They have tried that with a buddy that ended up having chron's. They did it to my girl and she had a gall stone. For both it took many ER visits and dr visits before they would deal with the real problem. They don't wanna take state healthcare because it pays shit and it's a lot of work and time to get.
