Which is mostly just ignorance on multiple levels. A social economy is not the same thing as a socialist economy. And research shows that if all voters would actually (get a chance to) vote, that’s pretty much what most americans want. Especially the common man. Heck, even 45% of republicans agree with 70% marginal tax on the very rich. Which wouldn’t make the US socialist, it’s not like a zombie virus.
And those who are quick to shout commie usually don’t realize communist China and Brazil are in the top3 America’s bankers... as in US treasury bond holders. To finance the US partly, while Trump hands out billions to farmers who cry socialism the loudest.
As typical in the US it’s taken to extremes. While there’s also such a thing as a mixed economy. As soon as something overlaps with what socialists would do, even if it’s something most eligible voters actually want, even if it’s just common sense, even if it improves the economy a lot, many Americans (left and right) get this Pavlov reaction and scream commie or “look at Venezuela”. Indoctrination from the Reagan era or something. But spending 55-60% of federal tax on military is okay.
All these often misused labels (including “liberal” and “leftie”) are not productive unless you are teaching or learning politics, not when you practice politics. Do what’s logically, scientifically and sensibly best and call it Amereconomism.
