Hey, I'm doing my first grow in a tent and I just got my carbon filter. Things aren't too stinky yet but I'm getting ready to set it up and I'm wondering if Its best to hang it inside the tent, or have it out side the tent being blown through?

Hang the filter in the tent and attach the fan to it.. Blow through the cooltube and out the tent into the roof/wall/floor.

Would you really risk hanging something that could fall on you or your plants and can be quite heavy with velcro, id feel safer with even zipties.

the velcro is good man the strenght of it depends on the overlapping area.................i would not use it with a inch but 6 inches over lapping ......u will not rip that apart with your hands 4 inch maybe but not 6 ...................rem with a carbon filter has a dust jacket on it that needs replacement about every 60 days ..90 days at the most so u need a method of taken it down to change those

alls i am saying is the amount of coverage equals str ..........human venus flap trap if it can hold my thick ass to a wall and 2 ppl have to peel me off it will hold a simple 30 lbs static weight

so the best way to set it up is have the fan in the tent sucking air through the filter and pushing air through the cool tube

Seems to be a pretty hot topic but not much discussion on riu.
I've watched tons of videos on set up of tent and some say inside some say outside the tent .
Myself , I'm on first grow and I'm going to out it outside . I don't have a cool tube but if I did I would duct separate air in so no filtering required .
If i put that filter anywhere in my tent it's takein up space over half a foot of height If I hang it. And if it's on the floor it would take up a full space where a plant could be.

Manufactures of your carbon filter say that your filter can be used to suck air in or blow air out.

Really it's all about your preference in my opinion. Do what works best for you

Most carbon filters are more efficient and will last longer when sucking through the filter (mounted in the grow area). This is because any dust or other fine air-born particulates are trapped in the prefilter (which is replaceable) and not in the carbon. Unless you're in a really small area (less than 2'), mount it out of the way up near the top of your space.

As far as tent collapse (light, filter and fan crashing down on your lovely ladies), avoid tents that use thin aluminum framing and plastic corners. Instead, consider tents with steel framing and welded steel corners like Silver Edition Grow Tents or Gorilla Grow Tents. You'll pay a couple bucks more for these premium tents but it's completely worth it considering what you're risking.

To mount your carbon filter, use zip ties or rope ratchets.
