Caregiver Question

Hypothetically if someone is a caregiver but has a slot open can he or
she become a caregiver for another patient but without his or her grow rights.
If so I assume reimbursements to cover costs could legally be received..Opinions?

When I got my card, there were no dispensaries around and I had cultivation rights.

I then had to hook up with a caregiver and register with the state to them, which caused me to lose my cultivation.

I don't think it's possible to be a caregiver for a patient, and for that patient to still have cultivation rights... if that's what you're asking about...

The caregiver route seems like a losing battle because of the BS 25 mile restriction. Speaking of which... I hope we made progress yesterday...

That is not what I am asking. Neither the patient or caregiver would have cultivation rights however the caregiver
may have cultivation rights for other patients outside of the 25 mile zone. I know somebody that wants another patient but there both in the zone. It appears legal but does anyone have first hand experience with this and if they will issue a card.

You're asking if someone can be a caregiver without having their own grow rights? Yes; caregivers actually don't even have to be patients, I don't think. I'm sure there are some actual caregivers on here that know for sure.

what he is asking is if a patient say bob has no grow rights because he lives within 25 miles of a disp. and caregiver jimmy is growing for 3 patients, jimmy wants to add bob to be his patient so they can exchange money for cost of growing, jimmy wouldnt technically be growing for bob just providing for him.

yes you can be a caregiver for people who have no grow rights, if you just wanna be their provider

A lot of people don't seem to know or understand that. Even the people at clinics and Dr. registering cards. It can still be a good benifit because of the extra 2 1/2 ounces you can carry.

I know a patient with a non cultivating caregiver. They did not request to cultivate (caregiver) this was prior to any dispe saries opening. It offers protection from possession charges if you are not a qualified patient. Also in the past I have had a patient of mine renew after a dispensary opened near them but there were still a few months on my caregiver card for that patient. Dhs issued me a new card for this patient that was not authorized to cultivate. The card expired soon after and I got a new patient.

The acquaintance of mine likes the reimbursement protection as well as the
extra 2.5 ounces.

Very pointless to be a caregiver that is not cultivating... Where would you acquire the medicine?

In a rare case that a person would be a caregiver, without authorization to cultivate, the patient would have to be so sick that they could not provide their own medicine. In this case a caregiver is needed to provide medicine to the patient without the fear of arrest when transporting.(can lose card if you are a medicating caregiver that is not a patient).. In this case the caregiver is likely to get the medicine from a dispensary. Which is the only need for a caregiver in the Program. The program was not set up for caregivers to be providers to their patient. Further the Program was not set up at all for any type of self provider or caregiver that wants to provide for a patient... The only patients allowed to provide for themselves must be 25 miles (crow flies) from a dispensary. Good luck finding them.. Such wishful thinking but I doubt the other 5% of Arizonans are cardholders... 95% of Arizona falls under a dispensary!

The point hb is the caregiver or caregivers would have grow rights for some patients but not all.
