I moved a few clones to soil. I like dirt! (call me dirty :) )

Had to do a slight grow room redo.
Cass is doing almost too well.

The clones, well one looks really bad. (not the one I would have guessed. There was one that had some fungus on the roots and tops. That one seems OK so far, but just a day or so into soil) The other clones, well, time will tell. I'm sure they are a bit in shock from that moist environment now to the veg room.

Going to add in some more solenoids into the program to water the newly planted clones.

Pics 1,2,4 & 5 are of the grow room (over crowed !)

Pic 3 is the watering jugs. I have a pump that will pump up a 5 gal bucket to them. Since they are all connected, the self-level out.

Pic 6 & 7 are of the new seedling. I almost was gonna kill it. It was looking VERY stretched. Looking good on that front now. (ok, doesn't look ultra healthy, but not stretching anymore) Looks nice against the Teak flooring, huh?

Pics 8 & 9 are of Momma Cass. She needed water and the pic was taken a hour or so after watering her.

Think I'm doing well for a first grow and knowing almost nothing about gardening. This site ROCKS!

great job, dude! the setup looks ideal. get ready for a great grow. the only thing missing is: dont forget to add a UVB lamp during the last few weeks of flower to boost THC levels.

good luck!

UV?!?! I have heard bad things about UV. I might make a side room for testing. (an old job of mine was doing optical coatings. So band-pass or notch filters can be done. Plus I left on a good note there, first in 20 years)

I can get a glass panel made that will let through what I want (the HPS) and not what I don't the UV (back to the normal room)

Something to think about. (like I need anymore projects)

Was way for the week. I had planted 5 clones. 1 died, 1 looking *ultra* bad (gonna be a pet project just to bring it back. Just like the challenge) One is SO kicking. That that one looked the worst when I planted the clones. Last one I had little hope for from the cutting. a little rotting gel and stuffed into dirt. It never looked bad, but had little hope for it. Its doing well too.

Back to the one that is kickin' It had fungus that I topped off. One fan leaf was twisted. Not something that I'd think would survive. I put it in the FF soil and threw a CFL over it (150W HPS in the room, but the plant is off to the side and needs a little extra light) I *really* should have taken a pic of it in that crappy condition.

Pic 1&2 are the surprise clone.
Pic 3 is the overall (with same clone and seedling and Momma Cass)
Pic 4 is the project.

Quick update,

Pic 4 from the last post (lazarus) is actually doing ok! A runt, but kinda expected.

Tossed 3 plants into flowering. All x-planted into 5 gal buckets.
One was a seedlings female (in a FF, MG/MC soil mix with a little perilte)
one clone from Cass in straight FF
third a clone from Cass in straight MG MC.

Will post pics when I get back home.

man your mother plant is a BEAST!
your doing terrific for a first grow. Id say the best improvement you could make is to make a dwc cloner to take all that guesswork out of cloning and to start up a prepetual setup from that momma.

Thanks man!

I am leary of a hydro setup. I can travel for upto 4 weeks at a clip (though usually less then a week) so the refresh on water can be a bear.

I have been cloning via bubble/dwc type set up. An water res with an ari stone bubbling up through some stones splashing the rockwool.

I just killed 2 out of 4 cuttings. I think it was the water. its SO old. (embarrassed to say how old)

I just tossed some clones and the new seedling into flowering. If they produce well, I might toss momma Cass in for flowering to see what she does. Could be scarey!

And I used to be able to kill plastic plants!

(will try to get new pics up this weekend)

hey gotta ask.... not bad for a single 150W HPS, huh?

i can say HELL NO thats an amazing job for usig a 150w hps. keep up the good work. I think id try to use both of your lights to flower her or try to get a 400watt hps. shes gonna be a big old girl man. good job.

Well I started with a 70W, then a 150W. The bloom-room has a 150W also. Gonna move the veg room's 150 over to the flower room. So flowering 3 plants with 2 150W HPS. (should be more then fine) and use the old 70W and some CFLs and/or t5 for the veg room. (gotta harvest a little more; aka: *any*, before more money investing. But looking like I might get something good out of it)

And momma is in MG potting soil and just shultz's water soluble plant food.
(and *they* say MG is crap!)

(flowering is in FF Ocean and will be FF BigBloom and Tiger Bloom)

sounds like an exelent game plan to me man.
mg soil is great for veg, just terrible for flower in my experiences.(it just gives too much nitrogen for flowering during the 3 months that it sposed to feed the plants)
either way man i dont know how you do so well being gone that often.
maybe you can set up a solenoid for watering from a resaivore and put a moisture meter in your pots with your camera in view of the meters readings....may help your setup be more efficient on the road...
im working on bulding a light mover myself. I need to find a motor for it but when i get done i should be able to make it function as designed. Im hoping to be able to help out the small light users like yourself with the design if i can ever make a prototype.

For your light mover check out Surplus Shed

Look for some AC syncro motors.

They will have various motors (possibly tracks)

I do automation controls for industrial plants. I can adjust the watering time (4 zones) from the road.
My system is watered, CO2 purge and lighting all via a PLC that can be adjusted from the road.

Also being away from them is a *good* thing for a newbie. We tend to over react to everything. (case in point: I have a few lower branches on Momma Cass, that look horrible. But they were deprived light until I tossed the plants that were blocking the light to those branches into the bloom room. A few ugly leaves or branches don't phase me. The overall plant is just fine. (out side of the under watering times :))

thanks but the design i have is a bit large scale and will involve a washing machine motor.
its cool how you setup the room to be automated all from the road.
the underwatering is why i suggested the meters and a camera to moniter the moisture meters.....
and not panicing over an little thing is a good thing too. a branch is just that, ONE branch. i dont understand why people trip out so easily....

A washing machine motor? Moving 15+ lights with their ballasts too? Thats overkill! Its gotta be a slow moving system. The gearing for a slow moving system multiplies the torque of a motor; so you can use a smaller motor. ie: 1/25 hp would work fine.(we can chat via PM on this if ya want some input)

I have the cam (can turn on only when I want: for security) but the meter can only sense one plant. But if they look droopy and the sil looks dry, need water. Droopy and soil looks moist, over watered. Looking into bottom watering via wicks. Was also thinking of using scales to weigh the pots.

I chuckle when people post the "help me now please! Emergency!" and its 2 leaves out of a sprout. (now a bunch of full fan leaves turning brown and curling up all at once *is* an alarm, but probably too late.)

here is a picture of the design i have but ill take it down after a few days. really dont want a bunch of ppl seeing it until i get a prototype built.

Quick update.
Pics of lazzarus. I'm really surprised that she came back.

First 3 pics are Laz

The 2 shots in the living room are the ones that got x-planted into 5 gal pails and tossed into flowering. The Tall one is a seed plant, the other 2 short ones are clones.

Flowering started Monday. (was gone most of the week, and had a little light leak, so I changed the lighting to 12/12 once I was gone. The light leak is only if the 'house' light is on. Doesn't leak much, but that will be fixed today or tomorrow.

Fucken A man! I was thinking about growing this strain myself...I'm very interested in this for sure..

I'm going to go and read your entire journal now.

Man that mother plant looks amazing...so they are going into 12/12 now?

Thanks man!

I picked because I liked the color of the buds in the pic and it was easy for beginners. :)

Not bad for a low light grow, huh?

Momma isn't gonna bloom. Too scared as to how big it may get. The 2 clones and one new seedling are in boom now. 1 week(ish)

Yes, I know exactly what you mean about the bud..

Where did you get yours? Seems like I've only seen that strain at one seed bank.

Pretty good seed bank? A friend of mine on here said he got his seeds from them and didn't have any problems. Someone else said they suck and not to order from them.

They ship to the states I take it?
