Carson MM-200 60x-100x microscope: how do you use it?

Hey all. So I'm on day 50 of some autos and am getting closer to harvest. I bought a Carson MM-200 60x-100x microscope in order to start checking out my trichs, but I need advice on how to use it. I know it's impossible to look at the actual plant itself (too shaky), so I need to trim something to check. Can I just trim a bit of leaf, or do I need to look at the bud itself. I really hate the idea of trimming any bud at this point. What do you all do?

Thanks for the feedback, aussie, but I researched this beforehand and know a lot of people use this very one to look at trichs. Can someone who has this microscope please help me out?

Yeah don't listen to that knucklehead, he's talking about of his aussie ass.

Trim off a tin piece of plant, put it on a white piece of paper and then put the scope over it. Start at 60X and focus, then work your way up to 100X if you like altho 60X will be plenty to determine trich color.

Right on. So will I see the same trichs looking at a small piece of the leaf as I would a small piece of bud?

That's what I needed to know. Just didn't really want to cut into my bud. Thanks man! A little rep for ya!
No sweat man! A couple of specimens here or there never hurt anything, I take snips about once a week when I'm expecting trichs to start ambering up.

I don't see why people have a problem using this to check buds ON the plant. Stick it close to a calyx, you can get the middle opening right over a calyx for a good view. Stick your eye in, yeah the focus is a little shitty but if you're not retarded and are holding it right you can focus while staying steady on the bud. Once you got your 60x if you wanna look deeper at the same spot just turn it to 100x refocus and bam. I just checked all up and down my plants last night with this thing and I could see the trichs very clearly. At 60 sometimes you don't see amber but you go 100x you start to see a little amber in the heads.

I have a 60x one and its hard to even focus on a piece of bud on my desk. Got a 30X and it magnifies well enough to see the trichs but not so much that your heartbeat keeps moving you off the target

Seems like the retarded thing to do would be to do it the hard way, which is what choose to do for whatever reason. Holding that microscope steady against a plant that moves using hands that shake is not exactly trivial.
