They do not care if I grow just as long as they do not get in trouble. I figure the less they know the less chance they have of getting in trouble.
If you are growin in the house and you all live there, please tell me why the police would believe it was only you. Too much risk. Find a place with less people or on your own. That way you can do whatever you want to.

Hey man, in my State, 1 plant is considered a felony. $ 10,000 fine and a 10 year prison term. Your friends would most likely be charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute, whether you take the balme or not. At a minimum, your action, if caught, would likely cause them to be arrested, charged and booked into the system, and they would have to hire an attorney. Your plan is not resonable. Also, I don't care if you have known them since conception, you will put everyone of them in a situation where they will be forced testify against you. At a minimum you will disrupt everyone's life for a 12 to 18 month period, spend thousands on attorneys and have to bear the justice system where you live. Maybe you would get the felony, but they may end up with misdemaonr charges on their record forever. Do you really want to do that for 2 or 3 plants. Stealth means stealth, and you should only do this if you are by yourself. Good luck to you.

Ethno I almost want to be offended that you took what I said, and were unable to compare it correctly to the laws in Ohio. Everything I mentioned nailed cultivation to the T, not possession, get your facts straight. As for the rest of your arguement, I won't dignify the extremely biased expectations you set forth for our judicial system, since it has a great deal to do with your history and the charge.

Here, rule of thumb. If you can't hold your own in jail and protect your asshole, then don't grow ok?

the cops would force them to testify against you...

even though it's a minor misdemeanor to grow less than 100 grams, LEO would weigh it wet, doesnt take much to be over the limit, 200grams wet would only yields about 40 grams dry...so if your growing to yield over an ounce, you've probably got over 200g...

in OHIO it is a felony to even know about someones grow, if it's a felony-size grow...

As long as you are prepared to be busted, go for it...I mean, 2-3 years in an state honor camp cant be too bad eh??? 75%-85% of the other inmates are there for drug crimes anyway, you'll meet alot of stoners, just as stupid (nothing personal intended, purely sarcasm to make a point---after all, you are asking 1st)...lol...yep, go right ahead...
5 will tell 10, 10 will tell 20, before long all of the Buckeyes will hear about your bust...

RULE # 1--- Dont tell anyone about your grow....

RULE # 2--- Refer to RULE # 1

I forgot something. Ohio, along with many other states (most states) have pre-trial diversion, which allows for you to never face charges in court (this typically comes in handy for first time offenders (drugs), but especially if it's a first offense for anything, (obviously not speeding tickets etc)) alternatively, the path most traveled after that is conditional discharge, which allows the judge to set a condition to set you free, such as the completion of probation for a duration of time without getting into trouble, and once the probation has been completed, either you do or do not have the ability to have it cleared from your record, but as I said before, anything under 100g is a ticket citable by a $100 ticket only, which does not create a criminal record in Ohio as it is a minor misdameanor. the great thing about this is that overall dude, you'll be fine, until you start actually getting weight out of those girls... they are completely lackin in value and thus, risk, until they have some baby arms on em :|

Cultivation is NOT possession...Cultivation of any marijuana in OHIO is a FELONY....

Listen we really appreciate your enthusiasm, but you are wrong. The National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws helps keep us up to date the facts that will allow for us to avoid the kind of propaganda which you so vaguely define. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NORML
Once you are aware of what that is... Get caught up on your state laws at www.norml.org
On a state level, you are completely wrong, however, on a federal level, of course, you are correct. But I doubt this kid or his friends are going to attract the DEA :|

One final question: In Ohio, cultivation of less than 100g is a $100 fine and a misdemeanor. What process do they use to weigh the marijuana? Is this dry or wet weight? Does this include stems, seeds, roots etc?

I will wait to grow until I have the money to start a similar operation to this!

closecult, is this a fact. If I grow in my room and claim complete responsibility, roommates will not even know about it (they do not care as long as they do not get in trouble). I have mentioned it but nothing certain.

Don't be offended, friend. I meant nothing by it. You initially mentioned possession penalties, and then mentioned cultivation in a later post. But you mentioned only the bare minimum penalty, albeit with a qualifier (baby-arm stalks and the like) which Matt didn't take into account. With the way they weigh the plant, it's almost impossible to qualify for the misdemeanour charge if the plant is of any appreciable size, especially during flowering. That's what I was trying to clarify for Matt, as he chose to simply believe it would by default be a misdemeanour, without looking into the laws himself or considering how much a few plants would actually weigh.

You provided good information, he just glossed over it. My other statements regarding the judicial system come from the experience of others I know who have faced the brunt of these statutes themselves, along with a call I placed specifically for this thread to a friend who's about to take the Ohio Bar; he works at a law firm now while he finishes the rest of his stint in law school. I was trying to lay it out as pragmatically as possible for him, because it seemed Matt wasn't considering all of the possible contigencies. But ultimately, as you said, it depends on criminal history, the skill and standing of the defending attorney, and most importantly, the judge that presides over the case.

It was my intention to hit -him- over the head with the book. My apologies if I put you in the crossfire.

my general rule of thumb for most things is life is if you have to ask yourself if it is right or wrong 8-10 it's probably wrong. Especially in this case where you are putting not only your ass on the line but the asses of your good buddies for years. IT was the mature decision to wait to get your own place... good job
