CBD/CBN isolation

I don't know if the hemp would have tasted better if it was processed better. There is a difference between Hemp and CBD Cannabis from my understanding. I would imagine the hemp plants have never been bred to taste good, so probably don't. Where as CBD cannabis has had the CBD bred into plants that were made to taste and smell good to start with.

Ya I bet that's exactly what it is. The ones I was looking at the other day were cherry something and some other appealing sounding flavors. I'm sure in 5 years there's going to be a multitude of options.

I'm not so sure about that.

I'm still smoking on some OG#18 I cropped in July 2017 that has been sitting in it's jar in the mancave ever since and it doesn't make me sleepy at all. Already been over 80F in here this spring and was warm last summer too. No AC here.

It makes me really wonder if this whole 'wait for lots of amber for a stonier high' is just more bro-science. Maybe it's all up to the strain and the terpenes that it produces.

I've got some kushes going now in the search for something more sedative. I've tried waiting a good month after plants are ripe and can't seem to get much amber so don't bother anymore. Even some years old dry sift is still mostly clear/cloudy trichs.

@OldMedUser,
You said you are storing the cannabis in jars...
I assume these have lids?
Depending on the type of jar, this can have a major effect.
I used to store mine in closed mason jars and it wasn't until I began storing it in the open air that the oxidation really took effect. Even storing the cannabis in an open mason jar with a cloth top to keep dust away will have little effects because of low air circulation.
I began using shallow pans with muslin over the top (cheese cloth has a weave that's too open), but now I use fine mesh strainers with muslin on top. This allows the air to circulate but no dust to settle on the flowers.
With a window open and a cross breeze or a fan, the air flow seems to be adequate to oxidize pretty quickly.
As far as terpenes, storing cannabis in the open air leaves no terpenes so it can be quite harsh if you smoke the flowers.
Again, I haven't had the end product tested, I am just going off of how the "freshly" dried vs open air oxidized oils make me feel and I prefer the open air oxidized oil.

I completely agree with you about the amber thing... I have done purposeful early harvests and purposeful late harvests and unless the flowers are left on the plant for several months, there doesn't seem to be a noticeable difference, but then again my plants are CBD dominant 20:1 and 1:1 CBD:THC, so there isn't as much THC to begin with.

any relevant info on how to do this conversion on a commercial scale like 10 kilos at a time??? my target is cbd. as far as legality's im not concerned my question is if anyone knows a commercial way to do this conversion thca/thc to cbd/cbn within a reasonable time period.

thanks
@dabbindylan,
Not to be a dick, but you might want to read the entire post and try to glean some info from what everyone has already had to say so far instead of requesting that others hand you a tailor made solution.

And please stop referencing that CBD can be made into CBN, it cannot...

Again, not to be a dick, but the information you seek costs money and time and I highly doubt anyone who has put that time and money into finding out the answer is going to give it away without asking for some sort of reimbursement.

There's some really nice hemp/cbd cultivars out there these days. I was checking out hemp seeds the other day, there's a few breeders that have some nice looking flavors in cbd form. It doesn't have to be charoletes web or acdc anymore.
I completely agree!!!
The hemp/CBD cultivars are increasing seemingly everyday...
One company that sends me regular reports of the cultivars they offer used to only have like 2 a year ago and as of the last report, they had like 8 and that was what was available at the time, not the total cultivar count.

Yeah I keep the buds in closed plastic tobacco cans that are pretty airtight. I really should seal the bulk up and freeze some but when I get bored with a strain I'll take all the leftovers and make drysift/oil/hash out of multiple strains for a new taste treat. :)

I'm growing a hi-CBD strain right now called Sebring's Revenge that has been tested out at a 10:1 CBD:THC ratio with 20+% CBD. It's been stabilized and the 4 plants I have started from seed are very uniform in growth so far with lots of side branching. Hope they yield better than the cross a buddy made and I grew a few. Cannatonic x Otto#1.

These are the Sebrings. 16" tall now and I'll take a couple cuttings off each then repot and flower soon. Plan to ScroG the 2nd generation but want to select the best from the first four once they flower out. As they are fems I'm making up some STS so I can get some pollen off them to make more seeds. Want to cross them with some of my old fave regular THC strains and get some CBD into them.

Those tobacco cans make great plant pots too. These larger, 200g, ones hold 2L.

Ya we're making a lot of progress in the hemp category. Did you guys see the usda legalized thc? No more .3% limit and can be moved across state lines too. It happened pretty quietly last week, I don't think anyone knew until a couple days ago.

Wasn't it that they legalized CBD with no more than a 0.3% THC content?

The Fed needs to get Cannabis/Hemp off Schedule 1 and join the 21st century. :)

Ya this was a usda change, so think food stuff and whatnot. But as of 5/30 no more .3% bs. Progress is slow, but it's progress, lol.

Prohibition is profitable but eventually the Fed will have to do something. I read about a bill in the works that will sue the DEA if the don't allow a schedule change soon. Probably need to get the Dems back before anything happens tho.

Prohibition 2.0 here in Canada is just a big cash cow for greedy corporate pigs and not re-legalization at all. Our Fed just passed new rules for the aviation industry. No pot usage for 28 days to make sure it has cleared the system. What a crock!

Ya it's a bunch of fuckery. Like a quote I saw the other day said.... I'll trust a plant that grows from the earth before I trust man made laws, and man made medicine. So true.... I caught wind of something else the other day too. Something about a judge telling the feds that they all need to get together and come to an agreement about the legalization of cannabis..... I forgot to go back and check it all out. I'm not sure if this judge was saying they need to legalize or not.... I'm off to read, lol.

It's people like us that should be running for office but it's mainly money/fame loving anal-retentive control freak sociopaths that like that kind of life.

Smoking pot should be mandatory for mentally ill people like that.

Seriously the vast majority in politics aren't very good people, but they have our best interest in mind, right? Lol should be mandatory for them to smoke, I agree.
