cedar for mulch?

i have a ton of eastern red cedar boards to plane...would these shavings be ok to use for a top layer outdoors...i know they make dog bedding with it because bugs dont like it

hopefully that and garlic will hold back the bugs...any thoughts on how to stop deer(pellets?),rabbits(moth balls?)or snakes?
Deer, rabbit, ect - Carnavoir urine and/or poo.(i.e. dog), human urine will work to but not as long(just pee in a cup with perlite/dirt)

Snakes - What the fuck lol. I'm pretty sure they don't eat plants.

Humans - Stake these around your plot:mrgreen:

TRESSPASERS WILL BE SHOT, SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN

not so much worried about snakes bothering plants so much as making me shxt my pants when visiting plants...we are infested with timber rattlers and copperheads:hump:

No, you'd use it to clear the area. I don't joke about this, I've literally found myself surrounded on all sides wearing the wrong thing (sandals, was in deep ivy). That hook can clear you a perimeter. I think copperheads sure are pretty.
