ceramic metal halide = WOW!!!!!

I work and have wotked in all aspects of the electrical professioon for quite some time now so needless to say that when I checked out the ceramic metal halide numbers and the theory I was very interested in trying them out.
So i did. I removed my old mh setup in my germ/veg area and tossed in a 400w hps ballast with a 400wcmh lamp and tested it out. Right away I was impressed, other hids I am able to look at the centre of a lit/energized lamp with a squint but not so with the cmh, waaay to intense, resembles an arc from a welder. So I gave it a test run and placed 20 seedlings under it the next day.
10 days later and the babies are at least a third larger then your typical seedlings at day 14. On 3 plants the foliage is too heavy for the stem to hold up lol, no lie! I started feeding them potasium silicate after the first week and gave them their first meal of nutes last night.
Has anyone else had the same results? Does the growth slow down or does it keep growing at this rate as long as i use this lamp? My flower room has 3 1000w hps lamps, thinking of taking one down and replacing it with 2 400w cmh's. Is anybody mixing them up too??

Why isnt there a big interest in these lamps? They are awesome!

Ya,:that's what I do. Just stare for hours at the lights...actually lights with the left eye and the sun with the right.....

youll notice the mh will grow a bit faster as well do a side by side mh vs florcent. youll be about 25 % taller same time period, a trick for you ,, use floresents until thare 6 to 8 inches tall gets them bushy , then pound that mh on them grows tall ,

I'm not talking about just your typical metal halide but a ceramic metal halide. Big difference......fluorescents??

I use cmh bulbs and theyre pretty nice.

The one thing you have to remember is that the light our eyes can see isnt necessarily the light plants want.

So just because something looks brighter to you doesnt mean its actually brighter to the plant.

That being said i use them because i dont like the short life of MH and the lumen loss while being able to use my old HPS ballasts. Along with the price only being 15-30 bucks a piece plus shipping.

Did you get a big change in your veg growth to?

I hear ya on the "unseen" spectrum, on paper it has all the right colors but all I see is white. Apparently its great on bloom as well.....don't know if I beleive that its better for flower then hps but maybe itll help in a dual setup??

eh i grow pretty indica dom plants so i didnt see as much. They ran a little cooler than my hps did so i had an easier time gettin them a little closer and of course they grew a little tighter compared to hps. But its more for the efficiency and hope that the spectrum is actually better.

Ive never done or seen a side by side comparison with em but thatd be nice.

the seedling in the middle is grown under a normal 400wmh that i put in there for the comparison. all seeds where planted on the same day. i also put some babies that i was having troubles with just to see if there are any "magical" healing powers coming off this baby too! lol
