Hey guys i used to be winkdogg / winkdogg420 on here and changed my name to drbudwannabe if you want to know why just google "drbud cfl" and you will find out!

So i kept a white widow mother alive for 18 months and finally rebuilt my grow closet and took clones for a fresh grow! I started with cfl's because i was on a budget but now thats all i use! I know hids have their place in big grows with lots of space and ventilation but for the mini , micro , stealth or closet grower i vote for cfl's! Here are a few pics of my closet setup and i will keep the pics flowing and if anyone has any questions or comments feel free to chime in!

All my lights are diy builds i use heating ducts and scrap wood! They can be cut bent and built with very minimal tools and effort! You can buy duct in any hardware store in all shapes and sizes then just mark it and bend it to whatever shape is best for your space! I spray all my hoods with white flat spray paint and use a $20 cordless screwdriver to drill and screw things where i need them.

Light sockets are only a few bucks if you need to buy them but keep your eyes open on trash day for lamps and lights to harvest free sockets! I found vanity light strips that had 5 sockets on each and i yanked them out! If using multiple bulbs on one cord use a nice heavy extension cord and always secure all connections with wire nuts and tape ! Never work on lights that are plugged in and double check all connections before plugging in! I will do a couple scetches of my lights and wiring to explain further how i build them!

Ball park price of my current setup :

Walmart 2 sided cloths closet $99.99
walmart cfls 4 pack 6.99 x 4
fox farms ocean forrest soil 28.99
fox farms nutes (liquid 3 pk) 45.00
1 gal grow bags 0.28 x 6
shoprite spring water gallons 0.89 x 10 (per season)
hoods,timer,cords,sockets. 20.00 +/- 10

Very cool set up :) I have a question regarding the number of CFL's your using. I thought I have read several times that you can only have so many CFL's on one circuit? I thought you could have up to 10 per circuit? I can clearly see you have 12 under your hood, any issues? ie premature failure ? Again I am not questioning your stuff just wondering how you are overcoming this. I have more reading to do as I am working with similar space and stuff, thanks in advance for your posts.

i will actually be running 16 26 watt cfls on that flower hood (4 more y adapters when canopy gets thick) my last hood had 24 and that one was setup with two cords so spread the load. im always sure to use a good heavy cord 10-12 guage and it runs through a surge protector into a gfi outlet but neither ever get warm or have problems. the 12 bulbs draw 312 watts and 16 bulbs is 416 watts about the same as 4 regular lamps ! or consider those cheap square halogen lights contractors use are 500 watts each and alot of those setups have 2 lights on a tripod stand drawing 1000 watts and people plug those in just about everywhere. check your breaker box to see what size breakers you have controling the outlet you plug into . mine are all 20 amp breakers and i have not had any problems! as for pre mature bulb burnout as long as there is air moving around the bulbs they should stay around safe temps but if they do give me any trouble Walmart will replace them for free for life! buy their brand and keep the boxes "great value" is the brand i think!

i will take pics about once a week to show progress and answer any questions ! check out my old threads (winkdogg or winkdogg420) i forget which :)

thanks for

Tonight i will put up new pics the plants have almost doubled in size in 5 days! I am used to growth spurts in early flowering phases but this is pretty quick! Much quicker than even my best past grow using my own soil recipe and standard off the shelf nutes! So this is my very early THUMBS UP for the Fox Farms soil and nutes i hope they keep up the rapid healthy vigor throughout...

I found my old threads here is my first cfl grow in a 4x4 closet in the basement! https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/123866-4x4-grow-room-clean-slate.html

here is my diy vaporizer build thread ! https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/150715-make-electric-vaporizer.html

thanks guys for checking my stuff out! THE LINKS ARE THE END OT THE SENTENCES CANT CHANGE COLOR?? ROLL POINTER OVER WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE!

I've already got my seeds and am just in the process of figuring out exactly how I want to go about growing them. I'm a low budget penny pinching tight wad! I love your setup and plan. Think this figures in very nicely to my needs and budget! Thanks alot and I'll be following very closely to see how you do.

as you can see in my links this is not my first rodeo! i like keeping things cheap and simple and i made alot of mistakes along my way so i know this is the best site for help! lots of smart guys sharing ideas and helping along will guarentee your success! if you have any questions just ask and anybody who wants to can post pics and questions in my thread its all good!!! im hoping to hear from some of my old buddies but its hard to start from scratch again on here! if you make a thread feel free to put a link up in here! and if you tell me the size of your flower room i will make some plans for a cheap safe and effective light setup!

Hi guys just some updated pics ! Was hoping to have more people checking it out but i guess its a pretty run of the mill grow.

Still really happy with the fox farms setup under $100 for soil and nutes and the best results i have ever had ! I have 11-12 indoor seasons and countless outdoor runs but this shit is great! I would say that this setup is as fast as any hydro setup i have seen! So far the ph has been very stable and color and vigor are perfect. Also noticing very large main stem growth i used to run a small oscilating fan to keep plants moving and build stem size but its clearly not needed any more . My only note on the ff supplies would be to use the seperate growing guide not the directions on the bottles label.

And i forgot to mention that at the time of transplant to the bags i added a few drops of superthrive to the first watering as well as a 1/4 teaspoon of "zho rhizosphere root inoculant" to each plant!!

Thanks for checking it out ! Spread the word , drbudwannabe

very nice setup mate, just wandering what you mean by one circuit? i have 2x 20 watt for side lighting and was wonderin if i put a y splitter wud i then be able to have 4 bulbs and they would still be working at full power? and also does having 2 bulbs on one cord cost the same amount of elecy as 1 bulb on one cord? thanks in adavnce, great grow +rep

in most smaller rooms there may be 4-6 outlets but chances are they are all wired into the same breaker in your electric panel . so if you plug lights or anything for that matter into different outlets in the room all run to one "fuse" or breaker circuit. figure out what breaker controls those outlets and make sure its big enough to handle everything plugged in to those outlets! i have 20 amp breakers and i have run up to 24 cfls (26watters) on a 12 hour timer and everything stays cool and never pops the breaker.each 26 watt bulb draws .33(1/3) of one amp so 3 bulbs about 1 amp 30 bulbs 10amps or half of one breaker. im not an electrician or electrical engineer so if anyone has anything to ad or correct please do! also all electrics perform better when cool so try to keep space and airflow around your equip! i think the rule of thumb is keep your amperage draw around half your breaker size for cool operation!

thx

Hey guys here are the latest pics . On 2-3 plants im getting some drying brown/yellow tips? Its only on a few leaves so im guessing either a hot spot in the soil or maybe a few damaget roots from me over handeling the grow bags? I move the plants around to water them and myybe in being too rough and rip some roots when lifting the bags??.

I trimmed off most of the ugly stuff before i took the pics (duh), but you should be able to see how random the damage is by looking for cut leaf tips.

hey guys here we are at week 3 or 4 i think and im still loving the new setup. things are really coming along quickly and im impressed with the amount of bud mass i have . this is also my favorite times to take pics, with the flash the buds and trichs light up like christmass lights! im still getting what appears to be minor nute burn in random spots but i have had it before about half way through flower . i just cut off the real ugly stuff and i havent noticed any problems or slow down in the cycle so im pumped and think i will be done in time for the holidays so its working out great

hope you guys like pics...
