Cfl for side lighting

Hi all like to ask a quick question regarding large cfl's

I hav 2 plants under a 600w hps in a parabolic shade.

Now for side lighting I've just bought 2 105w (525watt equivalent) cfl's but this time iv housed them in euro shades and I all ready had 2 65w (325watt equivalent) cfl's but hung vertically with no shade.

Now I can only get them about 12 inch away from the plants as there mounted on the walls of the room and hung down the Side of the parabolic shade and you probably know how big these can be.

Am I wasting my time with the cfl's so far from the plants or?

Cheers all

Trigger: why wold you want to? Two plants under 600w of HPS shouldn't need side lighting unless they're four feet apart. HSA

CFLs are great to light up a dark corner or to give you a full spectrum of light. I like to add a few 6500k or daylight bulbs to my HPS to give a more balanced light. I have seen alot of grows only using CFLs. Dont underestimate their power!

HSA, I have grown a bush under a 1000 watter on a light rail and still needed some side lighting or underlighting for the lower buds. You could have 20 plants or one plant under a 600w it all depends on the size.

I have been flowering with a bunch of 55 watt 2700 K CFL's & I'm in week 5 of flowering & wanted to add a few extra lights. I have some 6500 K CFL's almost brand new in a bag in my basement can I add them to give it a fuller spectrum for flowering? I always thought it was best to keep the orange/red part of the spectrum only on for flowering but I could be wrong.

^Think the blue spectrum or daylight 6500 k is added to increase the potency . If I`m not mistaken it`s the same concept as hps growers switching out their hps bulbs with mh too increase potency , this is done mostly in non commercial grows as just using the hps all the whole grow probably yields more . Depends on if you want quanity or quaility but I`ve noticed the daylight spectrum seems to cause the buds to start getting nice resin on .
