hello everyone.. im new here and going to start my first grow indoors

i just recently been to bunnings and bought two high output 45w-->160w cool daylight 6500k ecotone cfl bulbs.. the lumen for each of them is 2850.. people have been telling me it will be a big disappointment if i grow with these..i was wondering if these two would be enough for one plant for veg.? and how much more lights do i need if not..

The number of lights required is dependent on the size of the plant.
Those bulbs are plenty for a small plant, as it gets larger you can add more bulbs to assure adequate coverage.
Keep your bulbs as close to the plant as possible without burning the plant with the heat produced by the bulbs.

you could grow with just that setup..

however, the rule of thumb is more wattage = more lumens; more lumens = happier/bigger/stronger/healthier plants

;)

Now. Keep in mind that you won't yield very much.. with that lighting setup. Just keep that in mind..

good luck.

also, with CFL bulbs.. you can generally keep them closer to the plants without harming/burning the plant. Which is a huge advantage over HPS/MH lights as they get too hot to be able to put them that close to the plant.

CFL bulbs.. you can almost have the bulb touching the plant.. and it won't harm/burn the leafs/plant. This is why I use CFL bulbs for all my side-lighting needs.

peace and good luck

The good thing about cfls is they really dont throw off any heat, my first couple grows were concieved with cfls and floro tubes. The more cfls, the merrier your plant will be. Go to any store and pick yourself up a few more and you wont be dissapointed. make sure you keep a cfl within an inch and a half from the top, that will make her nice and bushy... I pulled 3 ozs off 1 plant using floro (cfl) power. Of course that was with about 450 watts....good luck...
