CFL KC36 & Royal Dwarf

This is my Third Grow. I just moved in with non-smoking roommates, which is the reason for the new set up. I was originally looking at stealth grow containers, such as the PC grow box or the Cabinet that are popular online because I need to keep this on the dl from my roommates. I then realized i did not need something that blocks out the light because i can put up blankets under my bed and say the area is for storage. Anyways, I decided to use two 30Gal storage containers. I set each of them up with 1-120mm cpu fan for the intake; 2-80mm cpu fans for the exhaust; 4 - light fixtures which hang from chains so i can adjust the height above the plants. One container is for the Vegetative/Mother plants and the other is for the clones which i will be flowering. In between these two containers, I have set up a 3gal container which will be used for the automatic water pump. I have not yet calibrated how many times per day/week i will need to water my girls with this new set up.

Powering my cpu fans, I have a 280watt cpu power supply which i wired to run without the motherboard. I have two different timers for the each set of lights and I have a small fan outside of the containers to help circulate the air within the little room. I may need a bigger fan however.

I just started germinating the seeds today, so they are not in a growing medium yet.

If you have any Comment, Suggestions or questions, Please post below. I will be updating / monitoring this thread daily.

More pics to come.....

It cost me about $250 *including seeds* to build this setup.

As with any of my journal entries; comment, suggestions, thoughts or mindless chatter is welcome. Thanks for stopping by.

It has been 5 days since I started the Germination process with my 4 little seedlings. They are now my girls. As of this morning I have 4 small little sprouts. I will be leaving the lights on 24/0 until tomorrow morning where I will then switch them to an 18/6 cycle.

I have two more kc36 sitting in a damp paper towel. I will be putting them in soil tonight/tomorrow morning.

There will be more pics once they get a little bigger.

UPDATE:

I started the germination process on 2 more kc36's as i fill i have the room for them and because there is the likely hood that not all of my KC36's are going to be females. This makes a total of 6 plants in my veg container.:weed:

My girls have been growing (in soil) for 5 days now.

Hey thanks smellz for the tip. I left my CFL's on for a 24/0 cycle for the first 3 days and didn't see much progress until I switched it to a 18/6 cycle. Maybe it's just because the roots hadn't taken strong yet or something else. But the 18/6 seems to be working great. Will update soon.

One of my plants grew so much last night that it grew into the light and the leaf got slightly burned. That makes me happy and sad at the same time. Hope it wont effect the plants future growth.

Cooler weather has arrived here in Washington State, which is a good thing for my grow as I did not have Air Conditioning. So for the past few days, my grow containers reached 90 degrees and I have no CO2. Will be posting later this afternoon.

Also one of my Kc36's that was in my second patch did not germ, so I will start germinating another seed and go from there.

Today is the start of Week 2 for my grow. I am putting two of the KC-36's in my flowering container, as I do not have room to let them veg and then flower. I know this will be giving me smaller bud and not as much, but my plan is to have a cycle (especially when I get my mother ready for cloning) where I am constantly putting new clones in, and harvesting mature buds as they finish. Also, I primarily Vaporize *Magic Flight Launch Box* which means I do not need as much weed.

I am going to let my Royal Dwarf stay in the Veg container until I see signs of Sex/Pre-bud. Then it will be going into the flowering container for the rest of it's life cycle (total life cycle is said to be 8-9 weeks).

End of day 10.

Two of my Kc-36's have been flowering for 2 days now. My other 4 plants are still in my Veg container. I started lst on the mother today (pic below). My Royal Dwarf autofem has started to smell for the past 2 days (Fuck yeah!). I have been doing some reading, and many people and articles say to leave an autoflowering strain on 18/6, so that's what I plan on doing. What do you guys think?

Also, my 5th Kc-36 popped out of the soil today. Exciting! that's where i'm going to stop germinating for this grow. I have a nice healthy mother with I'm planning on cloning so hopefully that will keep me going for a while.

I will be posting pictures of my Flowering KC36 tomorrow morning when the lights turn back on. There isn't much to see, but it's just a progress update.

Yeah! I'll have quite a few more going into flower once My mother is up and running. Also, my royal dwarf is an auto flower stain, so you could count that as well. I'm hoping for 5 grams from each (dry weight)

Today is day 15 since I germ’d the first set of seeds. The royal dwarf showed her pistols today! According to what I’ve read, this is pretty early to be seeing sex and such. But she is not a herm (yet), which is awesome.

What are the first signs of a herm??

Today is day 8 since I placed the Kc-36’s in the flower container. They have stretched approx. 3-4”. We will see how much further they will stretch before buds start to form. They will be staying in the 4" pot. Once could consider them bonsai.

I put the second stake in my Kc-36 mother as part of my LST. I plan on running her main stalk around in a circle in the 6" pot. She is going to stay in this pot for her life time (as long as I don’t expand to a bigger grow room, which I don’t see happening this year).

The baby Kc-36 is about 7 days old; I didn’t keep track. She is going to stay in the veg room until one condition is met. 1 - My mother is actually proven to be a mother.

All of the plants, excluding the mother (because of being transplanted) and the baby kc-36 received their first session of MG nutrients yesterday. All of them seem to be responding well to it, as in they are not drooping or limp. Today I fed the mother kc-36. I plan on feeding every Monday (once a week).

I ask you not to give negative comments about using MG as my choice of Nutes. It’s all I have access to and I am trying to keep this initial new grow under a budget until I know it’s going to work out with the roommates (smell and such). Thank you.
