This is what the 200W CFL boasts:
Energy usage: 200 watts, compares to 600 watt incandescent
Lumens: 10000
First off, why would you want to compare your grow bulb to an incandescent bulb? Secondly, if you compare similar wattages, 250W MH and 250W HPS, compared to the 200W CFL the MH's Lumen output is double the CFL's, and the HPS is more than double. Either 250MH(20,000 lumens) or HPS(28,500 lumens) put out more than the 10,000 from the CFL. If you compare it to the 600W HID it's a joke. A 600W HPS bulb puts out like 90,000 lumens, or something like that. Watts are watts, if you use 250W of CFL's or 250W of HPS, you're gonna use the same amount of electricity. I would rather have a 250W HPS light throwing 28,500 lumens at my plants than a 200W CFL throwing 10,000 lumens, for the same cost. Know what I mean?

Indeed. Even a 150 HPS would wipe the floor with them, at 16000 lumens. Plus, you'd save 25% on the electricity. :clap:

MY NEW EXPERIENCE (2X3X3H CAB)

6 26w cfls (156W TOTAL) = 80* pretty bright
1 150W HPS econolight = 75-76* FUCKING BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN

multiply that by 6 or some shit, HID PWNS.

and how exactly does that replace a 600w HID? its only 10,000lumens.

a single HPS 250w light produces almost 30,000lumens and has more usable light that CFL.

I think you need to look at the advantages and disadvantages of the lights and use what is most appropriat to your grow. The best things about CFL lights is they produce very little heat and can sit practically on top of your plants, a very good thing for those growing in confind spaces, CFL lights are also made to produce very precise spectrums of lights so you can have them at the perfect Kernal rating for the plant whereas MH and HPS have a broader light spectrum and a lot of the light produced is not used by the plant. MH and HPS lights burn very hot but have much higher lumen output so are very well suited for larger grows where space is not a problem, they need the higher lumen as so much is wasted by having the light further away from the plants. Personally I keep my mothers under CFL and my main grow under MH then HPS (depending on wether im vegging or flowering). Seem to get bigger yeilds from MH @ HPS combinations than any other type just on its own.
