Ive got a 6day old seedling under a cfl and led spectrum fish tank light and a blue led grow light all up about 4300lumens.is that safe.Dont know strain but seed is ancient and not sure when to put under hps
Should be ok but if you get one of those cheap screw in LED bulbs in 5000-6000k and take the plastic cover off it will work good for seedlings and you can keep it close so it won’t stretch much. As to when can you put under the HPS is really up to you if you can keep the plant far away it might do fine but stretch like crazy so if it was me I would use something smaller till the plant gets big enough to handle the 400w light.
I see awhile back you posted your budget of 2-300 your 400 is fine use that budget to get your environment dialed in and you will do fine

Cant figure out height for hps
The way I do it - Put the back of your hand under the lamp so it gets uncomfortably hot, slowly move your hand away until it's only warm, that's minimum distance.

You might want to get a cheap Lux meter. (from Royal Queen Seeds)
Clone and seedling stage: 5,000–7,000 lux

Vegetative stage: 15,000–50,000 lux

Flowering stage: 45,000–65,000 lux

Cant figure out height for hps and was given wrong advice and stunted my plant plus shit soil just screwed everything.New coco soil last Tuesday and Thursday gave the a drink of liguid root stimulator and put light at 3ft instead of 18"..Plant is month old and pics are 4days apart and growing much better but not sure when to lower light.
You didn't state if the hps had a glass lens / air cooling or not.....

You need to be watering/feeding every day, to ~20% run off. It'll become more frequent as the plant grows. You don't want coco to dry out.
So let it run through bottom holes of tub, water still wet by water gauge should i wait till its on dry then do it or when they wake up in 4hrs time. Also im using greendream-1 and says use weekly,i gave it a root stimulator drink on Tuesday and a small dose of greendream-1 oon friday night. Both feeds 250ml.Thanks too i appreciate your advice
