Cfl Veg + 400W/HPS

I have two separate grows going at the moment. The first grow is about 4 weeks into flowering just using bag seeds. The second grow is just getting started from some clones under some 23w CFL's. This is the one that I will be focusing on in this grow log.

I have four separate grow areas:

The first area is where the clone cuttings get started, this area uses two florescent grow tubes. They tend to spend about 10 days here.

The second area is where the mother plant resides and where the clones go once they have developed roots. The clones will remain here for about 1-2 weeks before being placed in the veg box.

The third area is a veg box where the plants will remain until they are placed in the flowering closet. In this box I use three cfl's (equivalent to 300 watts) both warm and cool spectrum to mix up the light. Time spent in this box varies depending on flowering time of previous grow; meaning, once the plants in the flowering closet are harvested, they will be replaced with these.

The forth area is the closet where the plants are placed under a 400W/HPS for the remaining ~ 8-10 weeks.

Here of ares some pics of what is described.

To start off I use Plantroid gel as a hormone when cloning from my mother. The clippings are taking from the mother, trimmed, dipped in Plantroid and then placed in saturated rockwool.

I am using Fox Farm Ocean Forest for my grow medium. Very few nutes will be added during veg as Fox Farm has most of the essentials for a healthy veg period, however, I will be using Magical for increased nute intake and to decrease nute lockout, I will also use Carbo Blast to help develop large healthy roots. In addition I use Plant Success to help boost the plant after transplanting.

Additional nutes are used during flowering which I will list at a later time.

Please comment or criticize.

Mylar will be placed in the cloning cabinet as it already is in the veg box and flowering closet. Just have to find time. I'm taking 18 hours at school and working 6 days a week.

It looks like you have a pretty decent, well organized setup. You put alot of consideration in which is always good.
I'm curious as to how many plants you flower under that 1 light.
It seems to me you have untapped potential. My process is somewhat similar in it's setup.
But 1 major difference is that I give my plants a few weeks of veg underneath the HPS's.
Your plants will grow/veg exponentially bigger underneath the HPS vs. the CFL's.
So maybe you could add a short HPS veg in your cycle and your results will likely be twice the product!

Yeah if you look at the closet pic you can actually see more plants pulled outside of the closet. I did this just to get a better pic. There are 10 plants under the hps right now.

And yes I do plan on vegging for an additional week or two under the 400W with a MH before switching to 12/12 with the HPS.

Thanks for the input guys.

nice looking setup you got there man!!bongsmilie
what strain you growing??:eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

Thanks>>

Not sure, just some clones from a mother plant that I recovered after my last grow from bag seeds. After this grow I will be doing sour diesel and bigbud, or mango, still undecided.

Updates 2/17
Just got back from out of town, had my roommate taking care of these girls for me. No nutes for this past watering, didn't want to have to explain all the ph and everything to him. The girls did just fine and growing fast. Like I said before I have two grows going on at this time; these first pics are from the older grow that will finishing in 4-6 weeks. I will post some other pics of my clones later.

Here are pics of the up and coming grow, these clones will replace the ladies under the 400w\hps after the harvest. I will be topping these larger ones to allow for a broader plant and also to let the smaller clones do some catching up. Right now the larger clones are on 18/6 and the smaller clones are on 24.

I need to fashion a chamber like yours since my space is limited here, my closet is miniature. I swiped a few CFLs from the apartment next door when they had it open for painting.

those in the closet are looking good, hope you're on hermie watch. :weed:

Indeed I am, one of them actually had a large ball like growth coming out of the top cola, not sure if it was a hermi or just a crazed calyx but I pulled it off just to be safe, other than that I check them every day in fear of another hermie but so far so good.

That Cfl grow that I did actually did pretty well, I only harvested two 6" plants from it but got a little more than a quarter dry. I'm sure if you were to work at it and veg them longer you could do much better.

More updates:
First five pics are obviously the first grow, still have around 4 weeks left. I was a little worried about these guys about two weeks ago but they have turned out pretty well. The last three pics are of the clones, they are doing great and growing fast. I'm going to have to top the larger ones soon to let the smaller clones do some catching up. Just looking at the way these pics were attached I'm not sure they will be in the order that I described but I'm sure you can figure out which are which.
