CFLS for vegging? or HPS?

I have 6 26WATT Daylight cfls.

Can I use those for the first 1-2 weeks then switch to my 400watt hps?

or

Get more cfls and veg longer with THOSE instead of my HPS?

Im germinating 6 seeds so I figure 3 of those should be female. 2.5'x2.5' space

What should I or can I do?

you can use the hps lights for vegging, i used 400 metal halide for everything till i learned and read more and because i got them dirt cheap, i have a question for you? if growing from seed i have to wait till 1st or 2nd week of flowering to just tell if there females right.

i'm getting a 250 watt HPS
I was thinking of getting a few 6500K and a couple 2700K for vegging, then use the HPS for flowering and maybe a little bit for the vegging
will it work? i'm hoping on doing maybe 4-6+ plants

I have a 400 watt hps waiting in my room all set up.

I have the cfls too I just need to know which ones I should use?

My seeds are currently germinating.

I heard that HPS causes stretching, but so does inadequate light(cfls).

What would be better, because I know both can be done if done the right way?

Thanks

It's by far better to use the HPS, stretching or no stretching. As soon as your plants can take it, use it, you will see...

If stretching turns out to be a problem, and you have your 400w light as close as the plants will take and that doesn't cure it then you can do low stress training or tie them down or whatever.

Supplemental CFL's will also control stretching, but don't let them block light from the HPS.

Now thats the shit I like to hear.+ Rep
This is my question though:

WHEN will they be able to go under my hps? I have it in a cool-tube and plan on getting vent so the temps are around 80<under.

WHEN should I put the 6 26watt cfl's on my seedling and for how long until I put the HPS on?

Pics at the bottom.. (the hps is now set up in my dark room)

I can not find those questions in the faqs/forums whatso ever..
Thanks to whoever helps

As soon as clones are rooted start them under the big lights, just set the light a little further away than optimum, don't make them sweat.

Seedlings are good to go under HID's from day one, with the light backed off a bit, but you don't need to burn all that electric for seedlings.

I'd let them get 6 pairs of leaves or so under flouro's before I bothered to burn a HID for seedlings, unless I had a boatload of seedlings and didn't have enough flouro's to cover them all.

With a cooltube you can use the HPS any time you like, and probably will be able to get that light as close as cfl's. Mere inches...

Dude check out this setup.. This is my cool-tube in the tent..I'll be putting my fan in shortly but the space is 2'8"x2'8"..

How many plants should I do.. I have a lot of seeds but dont want them to get bunched up in this little tent.

Would I be all good with that?

Whats would you recommend?

Thanks all

Actually go through and see his setup. Tiny containers and lots of plants, with as many containers packed in as will fit.
You can click the filter button on the lower left corner of one of DRbud's posts and that will only show his posts so you don't have to wade through a lot of BS.

Plant all the seeds you can spare. If your grow space is taller you can use bigger containers like 1litre or maybe even 2 litre, it's all up to you. A lot of those tiny plants produces a lot of bud though.

I plan to do. How many flouro's will I need? and at what wattage? I want to have 4 flouro's. 2 2700K and 2 6500K, WILL THAT WORK GREAT?
i'm going to have it in an 6 foot tall metal storage cabinet, that has a 15'' depth and is 30'' wide

I looked at he site before but its from clones NOT seedling..
Seedlings will die if i put them under the hps..that or stretch

Correct me if im wrong

So I plant the germed seeds in lets say 2 liter bottles, from seed through flower without transplanting wont they get rootbound?

I know im not going to let them grow 12" but whats the earliest time to flower SEEDLINGS?

Do you think this would be my best bet with MY conditions?

Earliest time to flower seedlings is from day one. Plants won't get very big that way, maybe 1/2oz max yield.

Rootbound? Not when you veg and flower them fast and keep them reasonably small. If you let them go on veg too long and get too big then yes, they'd end up rootbound for sure.

Do I think this is best for your conditions? Yea... Take clones before you flower and stuff that cabinet. Only go 2litre if you have the height for tall sativas or something, otherwise stick to 1 litre or less.
