Hi guys,

I'm going to be using cfl's for a small grow(1 plant) could I get away with using 2700k cfl's for veg and flower as I'm finding it difficult to get any cool white bulbs where I'm at.

cheers.

Yes you can, dont let the plant outgrow the light and you'll be fine.

2700k is best for flower mode.....6500K and/or 5000k are better to use during veg....these are very common in the lower watt size (23 watt)

I can only find the 2700k bulbs in the shops not the 6500k(I'm in the uk) so I guess get the 2700k bulbs from the store and get the 6500k ones online, id sooner get stuff in person rather than online but if its gunna be better than straight 2700k then I will.

how many u guys think would do for 1 plant, I'm thinking 4-5 for the space I have.

that would depend on how big your space is and on the size of your bulbs, as CFL's can be as large as 300 watts

I'm just finishing up my first CFL grow. Here are just a few tips.
Spread out your lights, try not to leave any dark spots.
Keep your lights nice and close at least 4''. Don't expect huge buds but during flowering get them within 2'' of your most prominent buds. Watch out for light burn though!
CFL's have very bad light penetration so you can sometimes stick a compact bulb underneath or in big gaps so some of the inner/lower buds can get big enough to not go to waste. If you do this you will want a fan passing over the bulb so it doesn't burn the leaves above it.

when it comes to cfls as long as you can beat the heat the more watts the better. You can also mix them to get closer to full spectrum. My first full grow was in a similiar setup as yours just shorter. Didnt get a large harvest but that was my own fault i tried to do 2 an it didnt work out so well.
With that said,
Dr.Who is right. You'll want to upgrade your lights sooner then later. I finished my grow and ordered a t5ho setup. Almost to harvest with the first run. No going back to cfls for me

if you check out growweedeasy.com there is some very impressive results with CFL's, nothing wrong with them at all for smaller grows and 3 or less plants.

Definetely spend the $20 on 4-6 6500k 23w bulbs though
