Cheap alternative to wet and dry vacuum

Hi Guys. I am hand watering into 11ltr pots of coco and having to collect run off from the saucers every day and it's quite hard work so I've been looking into cheap wet and dry vac's.. Have been looking at some handhelds but they all have rubbish reviews but then I came across this...

Bearing in mind I only have 6 plants, would this do the trick? Just hand pump the water from the saucers into a bucket??? I don't want to spend a lot of money on a wet and dry vac if I can help it, has anyone used something as simple as this before? and would it actually work? I hope so because its like £1.50

Assuming home depot is in the UK, they sell a $20 attachment that snaps onto a 5 gallon bucket, and turn it into a wet vacuum. The cost of the attachment is $20, and a bucket if you dont have one is $3. Pretty cheap and no messing around with syphoning and that mess.

The attachment Morriston55 mentions sounds interesting.

Also maybe this type of thing. available for cheap in hardware stores.

I wish I would have known about these before actually buying a wet dry vac.

I've just realised i've already got the tool needed for the job... A 100ml syringe!! I only have 6 plants so this will work a treat, it even comes with some tubing you can attach to the end of it

And all this time i've been lifting plants in and out of their saucers to drain the water literally like having a workout, whilst the syringe was sitting about 3ft away from me in a box!

Best $20 dollars spent in my grow room.

Bucket and sponge is less work than a syringe. Try it and see for yourself

I'l try it out! Really trying to find myself an automated watering system of some sort. Hand watering every day is not ideal, doesn't allow me to go away for a night or the weekend etc but i'm having such good results hand watering in coco, never seen happier plants! the dilemmas of growing plants LOL

It's amazing the different things I myself have made and stuff I've seen in other friends grows that have been built out of necessity for the sole purpose of saving on the old back while aiding in watering ..lol

The plants arent going to die or even wilt if they arent waterred for 2 nights, it doesnt rain everyday where they naturally grow, give em water before you leave, and lead a normal life. Maybe dont go out of town every weekend, but a few times a grow isnt going to hurt the plant

That's actually really nice to hear, you really put some reassurance in me

it seems like every automated system i've looked at has too many downsides to it that put me off, like not being able to use organic nutes because they clog the drip lines... This is the main one thats stopping me. Even though this my first time using organic nutes and coco i've never seen such resinous big ass buds and they've still got over 3 weeks to go!

don't buy that pump or you'll b unhappy,I bought one for $3 from harbor freight for the hell of it & u can dip water faster than those

Umb actually it depends on pot size and temps ....I've known people that have had to water twice a day because they didn't grow in large pots that's not ideal ....but watering daily is not out of the norm at all ...and two days away from very large plants that need daily watering is enough to kill and or cause serious issues I totally disagree with you in that .....just sayin
