it's actually an unbranded light 1000w. not sure of the actual wattage. just going to see what happens.

Raise them off the floor so the pots aren't soaking up the run off.
Place the thermometer half way up the wall out of direct light.
Make sure you have some fans circulating the air.

1000w unbranded = 300w-500w typically.

Looking nice. Best of luck with the grow and welcome to RIU

I've seen 1k led of only 150w actual before but that's still good for veg.

I would imagine you would need more light for flower. Hard to say without knowing true wattage. But in flower is where most blurple lights don't perform well.
Just pick yourself up a 600w hps for flower, nothing fancy, cheap as chips.
For a 4x4? I'd say the 1k if he can afford it with all its ducting and fans. It's only like 20$ more on amazon.

Yep, a 600w covers a 4x4 fine a 1000w a 5x5 fine. But yeah nothing wrong with going bigger as long as the extraction is up to it.
Depends on the height too, not all 4x4 are 7ft high.
Where I live a 600w can be bought all in for about £50, where a 1000w is about treble the price. But probably not as bigger price gap if you go for the digi dims.

when you say not good for flower do you just mean big yields? im not expecting a massive grow. wasnt expecting 6 seeds to survive tho lol. and regards to hps aint they expensive to run?

Yeah my buddy does a 4x4 1k with 5 plants. It's beautiful tbh lol. Maybe one day haha. He lowers the ballast at 50% till mid flower then he goes 75% then 100% to the end. Buds are always bomb. Oh and quick question for you. Do you wash your buds?

Expense comes down to the power they consume so if you bought a few of the lights you have and they were equal wattage to the HPS it would just cost the same.
But really a 600w HPS is not expensive to run unless you live in an area with a really high price on the kwh. Its very easy to calculate the cost. It gets expensive if you want to light 3 rooms with 4x 1000w Lights but then if you were doing that the cost is relative to the product produced.

When I say they don't do well in flower, its basically because in veg plants can tick along nice with not much light, when you flower they need a lot more light, so this is where people find they struggle, a 135w LED in a 4x4 for example isn't going to flower well so you would end up with tiny buds which don't develop well, don't fill out, don't weigh much and take twice as long to finish.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who shouts buy a HPS at everyone using an LED. I used to use HPS and now I use very high quality LEDs. But they cost a lot of money to make, build or buy ready made, which is why I suggest HPS, its cheap and reliable and performs well and always has.

Cool, cant argue with large nugs.. No I don't wash my buds. But I have heard of water curing. I'm not sure what the purpose of washing them is. I cure them traditionally.:bigjoint:

Listen to the man. He knows what he's talking about. For me I have 2 mars hydro 300w that should be here today I'll be putting them in my 2x2 box I made in my closet. I'll post it on my thread if you would like to see.

Well see me being a germ freak about my buds I'm going to have to give it a go. It seems scary but everyone I've heard that washed their buds don't go back to unwashed.. I want someone else to try it before me lmao.
