cheap lighting

I think the best value is 42w cfls, and large clamp reflectors with 2 bulbs each in a Y adpater.

If you want lots of lighting cheap. If you think of the amount of cfls you gonna need to give lots of lighting. Depending on how much lighting we talking about. It will probably be better to go with hps. How many plants you planning on growing?

if u get many , many cfls, like 20 26 watters, then u do fine as with some hps, really man!!!
yeah and they will use more electricity than a 400hps and produce at least the same if not more heat than the hps, and will not yield the same as the cfls. 20 26w cfls you got the time consuming task of adjusting individual lights to keep them close to the plant.

I aint one of the cfl haters just if you used that amount of lights the set up costs would probably work out the same as buying an hps.

so not including your Mh. I work out what you are running as just over 600w with 21 lights for 28k lums. Why? 1 600hps will give just over 90k lums. The guy who posted originaly asked how to get alot of light cheap. Sorry i dont see how 28k from that amount of lights being cheap or practical. Whatever floats your boat.

Roughly the same amount of electricity for a third of the lumens. One wire or however many needed to wire the 21 lights. To get the same lumens from cfls you would be talking over 60 bulbs. Hps is cheaper if you want a lot of light.

the answer is going to depend a lot on what kind of setup you're shooting for
small grow with 1 or 2 plants, cfl's are quite competitive here with plants that are under 3 feet tall
the training techniques of SCROG and LST can work quite well with cfl's too
if you go bigger, gets tough to cover the plants with cfl's cheaply, HPS is tough to compete with for bigger grows
small cfl setups can be done quite cheaply if you're shooting for modest yields - say an ounce or 2

There are a lot of negative myths about cfls. I have seen repeated grows of four plants grown with 400 w of cfls and yields of 7 oz per plant dry. It's simply more about the grower than the lights.

i was thinking more around 100 plants. the thing is i dont know if i need special kind of lamps to hold the bulbs or just the regular reflecting clamp ones will do good. Cuz ive been watching a lot of videos on youtube and they got all these fancy lighting systems and shit. i get the same but i dont know were i can get it. and money isnt a problem

you aint gonna grow 100 plants under cfls. Holy shit! 100 plants thats gonna be shit loads of lighting. What i would personally use as a bare minimum would be 8-10 1000w hps lights, never grown that amount at one time before.

Would also get cool tubes for that load of lighting or some kind of air cooled reflectors. Would love to see that setup

First thing first is that cfl's do have there place in growing but only in the cloneing or getting seedlings going other than that i would not risk a jail sentence for the little ammount of cannabis that a cfl will give you.The lights that you want to be looking at is a h.p.s a great all rounder it will serve you well during vegging/flowering.The higher the h.p.s light that you can get the bigger the ammount the plants will yeild. The min crop that i get of a 600 h.p.s 4 plants is harf a pound every time.I have worked it out that a 600 h.p.s light run for 12/12 off and a 250 watt h.p.s light run for 18/6 vegging the mothers and getting the next set ready to go into flower has soon has one comes out and is drying cost about 8/10£ a week no more than £10.00.You will get your money back of the first grow that you do.Have a look at a web site called www.kitbag.com you can get a tent light 600 h.p.s carbon filter all the clips and a great exaust fan that will keep the temps well at a good growing range. This will knock you back £280 but will reward you a thousand times over.Just renew the bulb every year and you will have plenty of ganja to smoke my friend. This offer is well worth the money i have one and the thing is light tight no smell at all realy good buy.

If you hope to grow 100 plants at a time buy about 10 to 12 1000-watt HID lights with both MH and HPS bulbs or dual arc bulbs or use the sun.
